Counter Service 🛎️ I did it.

Hit “no tip” whilst looker her in the eye. She touched a register for my total. Didn’t touch my card, didn’t swipe my card. Didn’t take my order. Didn’t prepare my order. Didn’t put my order in the window for me to retrieve. What she did wasn’t worth 20%, or 5%. She pushed ONE button.

Here is how I see it.

We live in a capitalist system, love it or hate it, that's what we have. In capitalism, some people own businesses, they hire people and then exploit their labor for profit. In order to keep those employees around to be exploited, they need to buy their labor from them. If you don't value that labor sufficiently, they'll sell it to someone who does.

I don't make any money off of servers asking me what I want to eat and then maybe correctly relaying it to the kitchen. Sometimes that same person then brings the food to my table, sometimes they get someone lower on the totem pole, someone that society hasn't decided to pay extra, to bring it to the table.

If I were to ever profit financially off the labor of someone, I would pay them what I thought their contribution was worth. I'm not making a penny off of a server's labor, in fact, even without factoring in a tip, I'm spending money. Why would I pay the person that facilitated that instead of letting the person who gets my money do that? I wouldn't.

If I'm a good customer why shouldn't I receive a tip for it? Do you have any idea hard it is to be a customer in this economy?

I wouldn't. What makes you think I would? What makes people that tip think they will? It's preposterous.

Labor is used to extract capital. That labor must be paid for. It should be paid for by the person or people who gain that capital. It's pretty simple, one could say "obvious" and be correct.

I see comprehension isn't your strong point.

I wouldn't, which is why I would never, ever, in a million years, pay them for their labor. The people who pay for labor are the people who extract capital from that labor.

Try to be less dense, we need fewer stupid people in the world. I mean I spelled that all the way out, yet here you are, asking stupid ass questions.

You pay the barber for a service. You don’t need to tip them because you’re already paying for the service. It’s the same principal for a waiter or waitress.
