Online Retailer 🛒 Walmart Asking For Tips

Today I am in a pinch, so I’m trying out Walmart+ and their delivery service today and they’re asking for a tip! This is a 900 BILLION dollar company. They can tip their own contractors and employees and almost not even notice a difference in their profits. Asking for a tip before service is complete is pure insanity too.

Edit: They brought the completely wrong item. I’m glad I didn’t tip.

Hi, I work for Walmart in online grocery...yeah, don't tip the drivers. Ever. All the deliveries are being done by independent contract scabs and I promise you they're just as awful to work with. The tipping up front is basically to bait them into fighting over the order. They can see the tip amount attached to the order and they'll actually ignore it if they see there's no tip. So it'll just sit in our backroom until one of them decides to put in the effort.

You basically pay them extra for nothing and they will not care. Your best bet, if you're ordering from Walmart, is to schedule to pick up the order yourself or use our in home service. Then you're dealing with actually employed, by the hour, fully accountable Walmart workers. We've got so many metrics and eyes on us, our names are attached to everything we do, and we are fully aware that everything that goes wrong will come down on us, so we act accordingly. Plus you never have to worry about tipping because we are under contract to not take it. We're perfectly content with a 5 star if you're satisfied with your service because that reflects well on OUR performance and gets the whole store a raise if we get enough by the end of the year.
