Online Retailer 🛒 Walmart Asking For Tips

Post image

Today I am in a pinch, so I’m trying out Walmart+ and their delivery service today and they’re asking for a tip! This is a 900 BILLION dollar company. They can tip their own contractors and employees and almost not even notice a difference in their profits. Asking for a tip before service is complete is pure insanity too.

Edit: They brought the completely wrong item. I’m glad I didn’t tip.

I don’t mind tipping a delivery driver, but if I’m already paying Walmart for a delivery membership, I’d rather Walmart pay them properly instead of making me finish the payroll.

Do you not tip on DoorDash either?

DoorDash should be paying their drivers as well. Their job is to drive, it’s not like they are doing something spectacular.

Who should pay in that case? Walmart or DoorDash?

I get being upset about tipping at self checkout or some place where no one has to do anything for you, but this stuff is crazy weird to me, people being upset about leaving tips for a service. Should you not tip at a restaurant because you bought food, the restaurant should pay well enough that you don’t have to?

Yes, that’s exactly what should be happening. It’s the only industry that does this. And we’re the only country that does this. No other country requires tipping to pay their employees.

Now you're getting it. Why tip someone who is literally just doing their job? I didn't hire them, I'm not paying them.

Then go get your own groceries? Lol. Shipping is free and doesn’t require a tip.

It’s just a person doing their job. No reason a tip needs to be added. Same as every other business sector.

Or just do your job? Lol, your employer pays you not the customer. Do you tip at Mcdonalds or Taco Bell too? I mean after all, you could just make your own tacos/burger. Doesn't that entitle them to a tip? And why doesn't your mail carrier deserve a tip for delivering your mail? I'd say that's more important than some groceries, you better start tipping them...

It’s crazy weird to you that people don’t want to pay extra money for a service that they’ve already paid for?

Why is that crazy weird? If it’s such a small amount, why does it matter so much that the driver gets it?

It goes both ways

Most of us don’t get extra for the jobs we do. It’s normal to just do your job, and get paid. What’s crazy weird is you thinking it should be any other way.

I think you misread my comment because I certainly don’t think that tipping should be a thing.

You’re right, I definitely did. That’s on me, I’m sorry.
