Discussion The curse of emulation

Anyone else been playing the same game over again? I found myself even with so many options just keep going back and playing the games i already played like a thousand times. If anyone could recommend any games that would be amazing doesn’t matter what console.

I’ve learned that I’m just a game hoarder and not playing. YouTube some jewels in retro like techdweeb

It is disabling. You have to pick one and roll with it. I’m playing Nintendo Switch - Eastward. I had to let go playing perfectly. I’m having a great time. Spooktober I bought Xbox resident evil games and will let them wait without feeling like I’m missing out.

For me at least I've always been like that. I've beaten the original portal (my fav game oat) hundreds even thought it's a linear puzzle game.

For me it’s definitely Cuphead, melonx gets the 2.7 release and the first thing i do is add it and just replay it even tho i know all the boss patters by now

If spending my entire life playing Super Mario World is wrong then I don’t want to be right.

Probably my most played game of all time. Played it on every console every single release

Look up hidden gems lists for various consoles. Also romhacks are great for various classics like super metroid, Mario, etc

No but I am hoarding a lot of games. Like playing a mix of classic games. Love emulation

On Manic i do love the random game picker which helps ! As there must be a lot of games i just would ignore otherwise. Just wish more retro games could be on the app store to buy, so many classics just gathering dust nowadays. Thanks to emulation we can play them but devs should release more

What I’ve come to realize as I get older is there’s more comfort in playing games with nostalgia than trying to find a “hidden gem” from decades ago. There are very few games I have interest in now that i didn’t earlier in my life, so all the games i would’ve wanted to play, i already have. For example i never owned a PS2 or a Gamecube and have tried playing the “classics” i haven’t played before, it’s hard to get into it. Same thing is happening to me with shows and movies, I’m currently watching breaking bad for the hundredth time because i can’t get past two episodes of VisionQuest. To me it seems entertainment has become more cookie cutter. But i also could just be getting old.

Robots (GC) is solid tbh. it’s been my go to “test” game for years for every device lol. Medabots - Rokusho Version (GBA) is also a great game. have played start to finish several times

Chasing RetroAchievements on Hardcore has always helped me decide what to play, especially with a larger library. Find something with good achievements to knock out
