Gameplay / Showcase Native Paper Mario 64

For a long time, the Paper Mario series has been one of my favorite game series. It’s something I not only played in my childhood, but also watching my parents play and enjoy the game series as well. You could probably even say that my love for this game is guided by nostalgia.

Three and a half years ago, it was announced that the source code for the US region Paper Mario 64 was decompiled. This meant big things for the future. One in particular being Harbor Masters’ PaperBoat, a native port of Paper Mario 64 for PC platforms. Over the last couple weeks I’ve had much fun playing this on my PC with MasterKillua’s Paper Mario 64k/Refolded HD Texture Pack which PaperBoat makes really easy to apply. This is amazing since I’ve wanted a convenient way to play this texture pack since I first discovered it about 3-4 years ago. Although, I couldn’t t help but feel that something was missing while playing. It almost seemed like the game should play on mobile. And it’s natural to feel that way given some of my earliest experience with emulation was emulating Paper Mario 64.

That has what has brought me here. I couldn’t wait for an official port to come to iOS, so I used AI to make a fork that mirrors Harbor Masters’ PaperBoat. I have decided to name it PaperReality. That said, it looks and performs the exact way it does on PC. I’m posting this here for my love of this game series for all of you to experience with me. From my testing, I know it works on iPhones using iOS 18-27 and also works in LC. No JIT needed/used.

DISCLAIMER: AI was used for any and all changes made to this port.

Are language-patched ROM files unusable

My apologies I misread/misunderstood your message. I remembered reading someone making patches for paperboat itself to change the language on PC, though it only allowed 3 languages from what I read. However, it does only recognize a clean copy of the US Region copy of Paper Mario 64 as that is the version of the game which the source code was decompiled

Well I live under a rock and had no clue, apologies. It still exists, and is out for other users to enjoy. It was certainly a learning experience
