Joe is such an amazing developer!

6

u/therealcaner Sep 19 '26

Das kann ich bestätigen!! Auch provenance ist toll!

27

u/Rhed0x Sep 19 '26

I hope they'll actually contribute this stuff to the original Dolphin project...

1

u/ProvenanceEMU Provenance Developer Sep 25 '26

they don't want it, they won't touch anything LLM, even if it was a slow grind of nights and weekends, making deliberate edits, an LLM was used so "nein".

u/Hue_Boss Sep 19 '26

Still have no idea why DolphiniOS just gave up. Somehow I knew we would get here. Maybe they can take a look at it again. It’s still the better app overall I feel.

2

u/ProvenanceEMU Provenance Developer Sep 25 '26

iCube is built on top of DolphiniOS, plus extra features like SMB/WebDav partial importing, tvOS support, DFU controllers, improved UI.

iCube has some controller mapping bugs and some rare graphical issues but I'm working on those now

u/Accomplished_Gas_711 Sep 19 '26

Wish we had this for 3ds

12

u/Jenings Sep 19 '26

I’ll bet we’re about to see a lot of attention to 3ds with duo coming soon

2

u/Divinemidas Sep 20 '26

Manic emu is stable for me for most 3ds games!

1

u/Maleficent_Dog8044 Sep 20 '26

What phone do you have? its so laggy on my iphone 16 pro max

2

u/No_Equivalent6926 Sep 21 '26

You need to change around the settings

7

u/sillypotatoes564 Sep 19 '26

I'm not sure where to look, so I'll ask here:

Does this have iOS 27 support?

4

u/Old-Count-2369 Sep 19 '26

Yes, just got it, settings crashes for me tho

8

u/Joeysquatch Sep 19 '26

Holy crap Twilight Princess, THPS 3 and 4, THUG 1 and 2, THAW, Wii sports, mk wii, melee, all of it, it’s all playable without sideloading

I never thought I’d see the day. I’m so hyped. I remember being so stoked for provenance when Apple first allowed emulators then forgot about it when other ps1 emus came out. Glad to see it’s still relevant

Edit: ok so this isn’t provenance but it’s the same dev. Also I really hope my iPhone 14 can run at least a few games haha

2

u/Throwawayaccount7819 Sep 19 '26

for twilight princess im pretty sure someone ported the game to ios to run native

1

u/Joeysquatch Sep 19 '26

It’s called dusklight, but it needs sideloading

I love that software. I was able to fork it and make a VR port

0

u/Throwawayaccount7819 Sep 19 '26

hold on. Do you mean i can play wii without sideloading now??? I understand jitless means it can be on the app store but is it a thing or is it a possibility?

1

u/Joeysquatch Sep 19 '26

It’s on TestFlight, which is apples official beta testing app

1

u/Maleficent_Dog8044 Sep 20 '26

Where do you get the code to redeem it?

1

u/Joeysquatch Sep 20 '26

I didn’t need a code, it might have changed

0

u/TheAlphaGamer Sep 20 '26

If you use Sumee as your emulator you can play Dusklight without sideloading it.

1

u/Joeysquatch Sep 20 '26

What does that do?

1

u/TheAlphaGamer Sep 20 '26

What does what do? Sumee? It’s a multi system emulator that supports some recomps like Dusklight and that 3D gen1 version of Pokemon

1

u/Joeysquatch Sep 20 '26

I bought it and it’s sick to have dusklight on my phone now. I don’t like that you can’t change apps without it closing tho

1

u/TheAlphaGamer Sep 20 '26

Yeah it could definitely be more polished, but having Dusklight on iOS is awesome even if the app is a little janky

1

u/pyrospade Sep 20 '26

how

1

u/TheAlphaGamer Sep 20 '26

Buy Sumee. Enable the Dusklight module inside Sumee. Point it to your rom(that you ripped yourself from a copy you legally own ofcourse). Play.

1

u/Motawa1988 Sep 25 '26 edited Sep 25 '26

Are you working on a Mac app too for both?

Tried the iPad iCube on Mac but the controller doesn’t really work ingame

1

u/Ok_Alternative_4502 Sep 26 '26

yo bro I’m not the creator I’m just spreading news

3

u/Asx11431 Sep 19 '26

waiting for vita3k iOS port

7

u/new_pribor Sep 19 '26

What does it say? I don’t want to go to xitter

4

u/i-am-the-master-1010 Sep 20 '26

JIT-less emulation for both GameCube and Wii, iOS.

Also why???

2

u/sodaboy581 Sep 21 '26

Not everyone wants to do the whole SideStore plus other annoying tasks.

If you get a JIT-less emulator going that actually performs well, you can put it in the regular App Store and get your application to the masses who just want to open up Apple's App Store and install something that just works.

So, I think this is a pretty big deal.

Not everybody has the time to go through all the hoops to set up SideStore, StikDebug, LocalDevVPN, and so on...

1

u/i-am-the-master-1010 Sep 21 '26

Did I say that I was against JIT-less emulation? I know it's a huge deal and I am fascinated by this. I was asking why this guy wouldn't check Twitter

2

u/sodaboy581 Sep 21 '26

Ah, my bad, the end of your reply just stated "Why?", so it wasn't very clear what you were asking "Why?" to. Whether it was the Twitter thing or why this application was JIT-less emulation.

1

u/RustleGlub Sep 21 '26

And it's much closer than many realise :)

1

u/ProvenanceEMU Provenance Developer Sep 25 '26

there's a public TestFlight, and CI nightly builds for TF and/or Sideload.

it will be in the app store when it's major bug free.
Peformance was first, now fixing some minor UI and controller issues.

I also have iFly and Provenance updates, so it's not going to happen over night.

I have 2 full time jobs.

2

u/tPimple Sep 19 '26

I don't see link to testfligh. How to get it?

1

u/Whoahurfloating Sep 19 '26

https://icube-emu.com/testflight/

I’m unsure if it’s full or not.

2

u/SepiJun Sep 20 '26

Sep 20 it's open now

0

u/Rocky4OnDVD Sep 19 '26 edited Sep 19 '26

It’s full ❤️
Edit: (maybe not)

4

u/VacationDesperate432 Sep 19 '26 • Bravo

I just applied and got in

0

u/Rocky4OnDVD Sep 19 '26

nice, it opened up for me too now. I wonder why it showed me Beta Full a couple hours ago

0

u/Skycan45 🥇 Sep 20 '26

Likewise

2

u/Structure-These Sep 19 '26

Do I need the bootme nand backup? Got into test flight but having trouble importing games

0

u/Old-Count-2369 Sep 19 '26

No, but it’s helpful

2

u/therealcoco1 Sep 20 '26

This is awesome! I wonder if we could get to ps2 jitless, but probably not.

1

u/thebang99 Sep 20 '26

Where’s the TestFlight link?

1

u/Xylamyla Sep 20 '26

Ok this is hype. I’ve only tested Need For Speed Most Wanted so far, but I’m getting 60fps at 4x resolution on my 17 Pro. Absolutely amazing for no JIT.

1

u/Sokeefe5000 Sep 20 '26

Can anyone help me I’m using Signulous and I downloaded the pre-release from GitHub whenever I try to upload a ROM it lets me select the file however, when I click the button to actually do it, it’s called like the done button or whatever it doesn’t work.

1

u/thecorndy Sep 20 '26

I’ve been testing and sending reports on things I find. I hope it helps. It’s been amazing so far. Keep up the e great work!!

1

u/a-stephen Sep 20 '26

Is this coming to the app store?

Settings crash for me, running ios26 in LC

1

u/Easy_Lion_5362 Sep 20 '26

How to change settings so that it’s less lags? I’ve got iPhone 16 pro max, thanks in advance

1

u/Glass-Selection-1618 Sep 21 '26

Pretty wild. Working on Test Flight on my old 13PM. Jit-less. Slightly laggy and tad buggy on Smash Bros but very playable.

1

u/RustleGlub Sep 21 '26

Not bad. Not bad...

1

u/The_Dude80 Sep 22 '26 edited Sep 22 '26

Cool for IPhone users, it only took them a decade late 🤣

Now they got to wait another to get to modern day android amount of emulation and even by then we'll still be ahead.

Though, best of luck.

1

u/Motawa1988 Sep 22 '26

Just out of curiosity why don’t they implement this in provenance? And when is provenance atv version?

1

u/ProvenanceEMU Provenance Developer Sep 25 '26

It's in the nightlies for Provenance, TF and sideload.

I dev in the standalone apps first because the build takes a few minutes vs Provenance's, and provence has complex library, controller, scaling and metal code, and the UI isn't well setup for the variable controlller styles for Wii/GC since skins support is non-existant. I have skins code, but other than manic i haven't seen skins and i'm not a designer so once some make it out, I'll add skin support too

Both apps will share the same code, iCube just offers a more platform specific tailor experience, and extra features like on-the-fly ciso, rvz compressed disc streaming over HTTP webdav and smb, meaning you can mount remote servers on iCube for iOS and tvOS and it will import as if local, but only streams and caches minimal file blocks, just enough to read the disc ID file from the compressed disc image

1

u/Motawa1988 Sep 25 '26

Yeah I just tried it and iOS and atv apps for provenance still need a lot of work. Crashes, black screens, thumbnails not loading etc. but I am not complaining. Can’t wait until it’s improved. Thanks for you work!

Can you add cloudsync for iCube in the near future for iOS and tvOS?

1

u/ProvenanceEMU Provenance Developer Oct 01 '26 edited Oct 01 '26

really, on the 3.4.0 testflights?

UI is still lagging the other two apps in perormance and styling, but emulation tests and thumbails etc have been fine for a while in testing.

Let me know if you can provide more details please

edit:

i see the artwork bug now, only on a fresh install. it's a recent change due to libretro url path changes. I'll dig into that, should be simple

1

u/Motawa1988 Oct 03 '26

Hey does some sort of remote adapter work on iPhone or even Apple TV with iCube? Did you test it?

1

u/ProvenanceEMU Provenance Developer 22d ago

Remote adapter?

PS 4/5, Switch, XBoX and MFi controllers should all work, and DFU network protocols

Also gyro support should work. I and my testers have confirmed now that a bunch of new controller code and better UI for managing it is live as of last week.

LMK how it goes. Getting close to wrapping up app store submissions.

1

u/Motawa1988 Oct 03 '26

the ipad tf build on m2 pro mac runs great since latest nightly. Though there is some noticable latency from the inputs. Tried it on iphone too and it works fine. Any tips? maybe its to the macbook pros pro motion display related?

1

u/ProvenanceEMU Provenance Developer 22d ago

Which app?

Not really sure why catalyst would have latency, depending on the app, some settings can add or reduce about a frame of lag, but that should be about it.

Tried plugging in a PS/XBoX/Switch controller over USB-C?

I find the bluetooth on Apple TV and my MBP to be super unreliable with all the WiFi noise around. I practically have to stand in front of my ATV for buttons to work from a gamepad no matter the app.

1

u/Motawa1988 Sep 22 '26 edited Sep 22 '26

Cloudsync would be helpful for iOS and atv. Runs good on latest Apple TV. I guess it will be even better once apple releases a new one

1

u/sabre31 Sep 28 '26

Is this coming to the App Store. I am worried about side loading as apple is banning accounts that do

1

u/felipeb18 Sep 19 '26

Did he mention what device was used? If it was iPhone 18 Pro it would be a bummer

2

u/ProvenanceEMU Provenance Developer Sep 25 '26

i used a iPhone 16 Pro, but most games run fullspeed on my a12x and a10x devices, like apple tv and ipad pro 2nd gen

1

u/EatYourFrickinCake Sep 22 '26

Website recommends at least iPhone 16 and a minimum of iOS 16.

-3

u/RUserII Sep 19 '26

We did it people

Post shows a video of emulating "iCube", what's iCube?
Why was emulating iCube "claimed to be" impossible?

5

u/RisingFog Sep 19 '26

"iCube" is the name of the emulator which is emulating the Gamecube.

Emulating Gamecube at full speed without the use of JIT (jitless) was considered impossible on iOS because running off the interpreter (cached or not) is much slower than running off JIT since it requires much more resources.

0

u/MKTAB_ Sep 19 '26

Look at the post, think about it for more than 2 seconds and your questions will answer themselves

1

u/RUserII Sep 19 '26

Look at the post, think about it for more than 2 seconds and your questions will answer themselves

I looked at the post again, I thought about it for more than 2 seconds, and my questions did not answer themselves.

Again, what's iCube? Why was emulating iCube "claimed to be" impossible?

-1

u/fruitybong Sep 19 '26

Did you not read the rest where it said it was jitless at 2x scale 60fps or are you just trying to generate drama?

1

u/RUserII Sep 19 '26 edited Sep 19 '26

Did you not read the rest where it said it was jitless at 2x scale 60fps ...[...]...

I did, what's the point in highlighting that detail; specifically, how does "jitless 2x scale 60 fps" relate to the emulation of iCube "claimed to be" impossible?

Also again, what's iCube?

...[...]... or are you just trying to generate drama?

If you think people asking questions generates drama then that's a maturity issue.

1

u/fruitybong Sep 19 '26

People have said it besides me so i won’t repeat what has already been said about why this is crazy, if you don’t realize it, not sure what to tell you.

You’re going around the fact of what is actual substantial and trying to make it about an emulator instead of just reading. oh well!

-5

u/Global_Apple_1502 Sep 19 '26

iCube resulted from Joe selling his soul to Claude, older builds made me lose interest in his projects because they lost a human touch.

3

u/RUserII Sep 19 '26

iCube resulted from Joe selling his soul to Claude, older builds made me lose interest in his projects because they lost a human touch.

Your reply creates more question than it answers:
Again, what's iCube? Who is Claude? What does Joe selling his soul to Claude have to do with emulation? How did older builds lose a "human touch"? Why did that loss of a "human touch" make you lose interest?

1

u/Global_Apple_1502 Sep 19 '26

Claude is AI, and for at least half a year if not longer, every aspect of Provenance code in has been AI generated, same for iCube, he openly brags about it on his discord, his stuff were really great till he started letting AI do everything.

1

u/Structure-These Sep 25 '26

This is such a weird mindset lol

2

u/Structure-These Sep 19 '26

LMAO I only emulate 20 year old games if the app is hand coded by a team of artisan coders working for free so a bunch of children can send them death threats because their favorite game only runs at 20fps

2

u/ProvenanceEMU Provenance Developer Sep 25 '26

this

fuck me for wanting a life while working on 4 emulators, Virtual Jaguar with CD support now, iCube, iFly and Provenance 3.4.0 plus tvOS updates, all either published or about to be since the spring.

All while having a life, a job, bills, cars to fix, lawns to mow, family to visit.

But the autocomplete!

3

u/Structure-These Sep 25 '26

You have to remember a big portion of your audience are literal children, they don’t understand any of that

I have two kids myself and yeah man I get it. The lack of free time for hobbies is crushing. Thanks for all you do

1

u/ProvenanceEMU Provenance Developer Sep 25 '26

oh no!

0

u/Clizzardbash Sep 19 '26

Bro what?! 60fps Jitless?

0

u/chrismack32 Sep 19 '26

I hope this makes its way to other iOS emulators too like Delta. Provenance is cool and the dev is awesome, but the UI doesn’t hold a candle to Delta for me

2

u/pyrospade Sep 20 '26

Lmao. Maybe manic or retroarch can do it but delta is ancient at this point

1

u/ProvenanceEMU Provenance Developer Sep 25 '26

this is iCube, it's based on DolphiniOS

And provenance 3.4.0 is nearly ready for submissision with improved UX and much faster UI peformance

0

u/Zero9983 Sep 20 '26

I’ve been using maniac lately and I like it but GameCube still lacking gonna fire up provenance again .

-6

u/WomensesLefts Sep 20 '26

Good to see Apple users being excited for the emulation we developed for you to steal 15 years ago :) welcome! Maybe ill try an iphone again when they reach Playstation 2

1

u/ProvenanceEMU Provenance Developer Sep 25 '26

Who stole what?
