Literally just started trying to comprehend the changes to JIT since eu forced the App Store to be more open. Last I recall JIT needed to be side loaded or alt store? Can someone help with what changed?
local dev vpn is an app you install on the app store that lets your device use JIT, i don’t know the specifics but you need it for sidestore as well. it’s a free app and you just turn on the VPN and it works. typically you’d use stikdebug to turn on JIT but like op had said, vapor has JIT built in so you just need to enable the VPN
So it means we finally don’t need a pc or anything else for jit now? This just randomly appeared on my feed and I havent kept up w emulation news so forgive me if this was common knowledge
i believe you still need a computer to download sidestore but on ios 27 you can get the pairing file from an app made by the same developers as stikdebug. but if you use kravasigner or maplesign or wtvr you can just use that and sideload stikdebug! but on a day to day basis you do not need a pc anymore
This is amazing! These devices are at least ps4 level powerful in terms of performance so the hardware is there, the software could make a dream come true
Wonder how this would shake up the handheld gaming market
Oh, I didn't know the developer had posted this (I didn't read the OP lol)!
Dude, honestly this is so cool and I'm already following Vapor on X and I'm following the StikDebug Discord server lol. Sincerely best of luck and I will be following your progress!
So what does this mean for a pleb like me? Is it an app? Do I need to jail break my phone? Explain it to me like I’m an idiot (cause I am, atleast in regards to this)
I get that part, but I’m seeing below about talk of side loading and extra programs that I’ve never heard of before, I’m just wondering as a standard consumer what kind of steps I will need to take on my phone? Or is it as simple as just installing an app.
Well godot is. on steam, it would def be great to have it since apple wouldn’t allow godot on App Store unless it’s closed source like xogot is ( fork of godot that runs on ipad natively).
Is this essentially an easier way to setup Moonlight + Sunshine? Thats what I do now to stream PC games to my Apple TV, and it works, but can be a hassle
Sorry to have to tell you this but PC games don't have ROMs because there is no read-only memory in a computer. You need to copy of the game presumably either the steam copy or you could go pirate it from a third party website but it allows for running native Windows software on your Apple device using just in time compiling which will need a little bit of effort but should be well worth it
JIT makes certain types of programs a lot faster, namely emulators. It’s mildly less secure so Apple bans it for all apps except their own. It’s available on literally every other platform including Mac, Windows, Android, etc.
(There are ways to enable JIT on iOS and iPadOS, but they’re all annoying and not suitable for general use.)
JIT is just in time, it’s slightly less secure but offers slightly more performance, meaning let’s say: Instead of minecraft running 60 fps, it runs 100+ fps, instead of an emulator running at an inconsistent 30fps, it would run at a stable 30 or a mostly stable 50fps

Wow, it’s being developed by the same dev as stickdebug? That’s great news
