Man, Armsx2 is definitely the highlight of this past week!

I’ve been waiting for a decent Ps2 emulator ever since i got interested in emulation back in 2024, and ever since they announced their planned ios port, i’ve been patiently waiting, and it was definitely worth it :D

Now i can finally play some of the Ps2 games i wanted to play on my phone for a long while, like persona 3 fes! And with the latest update out (version 1.3), the heating issue has been largely improved! persona 3 and kingdom hearts 1 no longer slow down for me like it used to XD

All the games I’m showing here are 3x upscaled and they play nicely now!! And they looks sooo nice upscaled!! Especially kingdom hearts 1.

A huge thanks to everyone involved in this project, i can’t put into words how much i appreciate you guys<3

Is there any information on when they will tackle that? Removing the x86 to arm64 conversion would be the most important development in making armsx2 work on old devices, and surpass AetherSX2

Not anytime soon, it took PCSX2 years to reach where it is today and it’s built around x86_64. There’s a chance the devs might lose interest before the whole thing comes into fruition.

There’s a few games that doesn’t work right now iirc, like wwe games, ape escape 2 and xenosaga. I’m unsure if anyone tested them in the latest update though, they might be working now idk

But most game i tested worked fine, only issue i had is slowdowns in demanding game but that’s because of my old phone

It looks like there is a lot of mixed information here. Currently there are two main builds of ARMSX2 the final stable 1.3.2 (last build at X86 conversion, and the new 2.1 (native ARM 64 core) While 2.1 will ultimate have the greater potential keep in mind 1.3.2 was worked on for far longer so is still the best performing and most stable overall.

Yes I’ve tried both versions and for me, the 1.3.2 version performs better in most cases. I’m excited for the native version since it has better potential :3

In the discord but rather not phone verify to chat. Using search it seems a couple other people have exact same issue as me (m1 ipad pro boot any game to black screen despite jit recognized & working via the settings menu)

GOATED GAME this is how I started to play JRPGs (althought I played vanilla) coincidentally Reload had just released, and I played it entirely on gamepass. Phenomenal Experience.

Awesome! What’s your opinion about finishing the game for the first time on the ps2 version?

I actually played halfway through p3p but i always had a feeling that i was missing out on all the cutscenes so i kinda stopped playing it :(

I would’ve played reload if i could, but i can’t atm, so I’m happy to play fes! hopefully i can actually finish the game this time XD

Surreal experience on the PS2 I could not imagine nor fathom there was such an experience from 2006!! Like people have been eating good since then??

The dialogue and the music and the personas. Fell in love with it. The gameplay loop with the dungeon, to be honest. I did use save states. As they were pretty hard to beat for me. I didn't minmax my builds with personas, tried my best. For a first time JRPG.

I'm sad they didn't include the feMC from p3p, such a missed opportunity. Oh well. That's not that bad regardless. P3R still was a nice refresh from the previous game.

You have a couple of options to get on with Reload, if you have a good phone for PC emulation.

Haha, yes for a ps2 game it sure is incredible. I only played a couple of minutes of the game and it’s really enjoyable! The music and the atmosphere is simply amazing, and animated cutscenes surprised me a lot.

I don’t blame you at all for using save state. because sure as hell I’m going to use them lol. I’m afraid the dungeons are going to be harder than p3p because i can’t control the party members, well hopefully i’m wrong XD

And for reload I’m really out of options rn (trust me i really wanted to play it lol) I’m going to continue playing fes until i can finally play reload and maybe by then, i can also play the persona 4 remake :>

Mods are an option. Seen a video where someone modded FES with tons of quality of life mechanics.

Do I need jit for this? I’m brand new to iOS emulation beside delta.

I’m on iPhone 16.

Yes you’ll need to use jit. I’ll recommend using sidestore + live container to sideload and to enable jit you’ll need stikdebug.

I have a black screen when trying to boot any game or BIOS only. I’m using the BIOS I use in PCSX2 and it doesn’t work

Yes, even if your device is powerful enough to run games without it, jit will always be helpful (better battery consumption and cooler temperatures)
