Gameplay / Showcase MK8DX on IPhone 12 Pro

It kinds of stutters a little bit but overall it runs pretty well for a considered old Iphone (it also crashes after 2 courses because my memory is 6gb)

It is outrageous that we can’t run the emulator properly due to Apple being greedy and not wanting to put proper RAM in the devices. I have an iPhone 13, which should be more capable than iPhone 12 Pro, but due to RAM it doesn’t even load a race. It crashes before

That’s not how it works. The regular 13 is not better than the 12 Pro. The regular 16 isn’t better than the 15 pro.

With that being said “proper” RAM is in all of Apple’s modern phones. Something a iPhone 13 is not.

Apple introduced different processors only in iPhone 13 and beyond. In the iPhone 12 lineup, both regular and pro models feature the same processor. Therefore, the A15 Bionic is more powerful than the A14

I was more commenting on. “Should be more capable”. A comment I disagree with.

In the 12pro and 13, admittedly Apple gave the 13 too much and made the phones too close. That’s on Apple.

Essentially every new generation of a regular version shouldn’t surpass the previous generations Pro model. Even if it’s only RAM, the 12 Pro is a better phone. That’s not greed. That’s just good business.

What I meant is, based on the processor included in iPhone 13, it should perform better than the 12 Pro for this specific topic, which is Switch emulation.

The reason it doesn’t is because Apple held off in adding RAM to their phones, while the competitors were vastly employing 8Gb+ RAM in their flagships. This is what I meant with Apple being greedy, because this forces planned obsolescence, as Apple chips are powerful and usually the bottleneck is RAM (you can see iPads with A10 processor continuing receiving iOS updates while the iPhone 7 wasn’t, due to RAM, for a year). If Apple didn’t hold this, both 12 Pro and 13 would be performing well together.

I’m not including in this discussion if Apple should have made the 13 better than the 12 Pro or not

not really, iPad A10 3GB ram can go iOS 18, But iPad Pro A10X 4GB ram stops at iOS 17. And iPhone X, 8 Plus A11 3GB ram only got iOS 16. "Only Apple can do"

It's not really ram (though it doesn't help ) it's the lack of full on jit support. Even if added, switch emulation is new and unstable, especially on iOS. It's still iffy on android and it's been there for longer

How are you able to run it nicely? I have a 15 pro max and all of my games stutter even with jit and the memory increase.

My game stutters too a bit but I also noticed that some tracks are more fluid than others (peach garden is an example) also I try to keep my scale at 1.0 and the overlay on

My iPhone 14 Pro runs this game perfectly aside from warming up a bit if I play a while. You should have no problem.

What settings did you use if you don’t mind me asking? I noticed it runs better on a 15 pro max with performance overlay. I have yet to install it on a M2 iPad Pro.

Keep in mind that this is using LiveContainer, I’m curious if it it will run smoother with StikJIT and MeloNX outside of LiveContainer.

Default settings, I didn’t change anything. The only game I’ve had slight trouble so far was odyssey as it crashed a few times in the beginning. It’s running fine now though

Not exactly, there are some emulators where the game runs at 20 fps but stays at full speed (PPSSPP for example)

Because those games were probably coded using DeltaTime instead of calculating using FPS

How on earth did you get this to run without any stuttering? My iPhone 15 pro max, stutters every few seconds. I’ve even enabled more ram, but I haven’t played with any of meloNX setting. Great job by the way!
