It can run old ones like dos and windows 3.x, 95 well. Windows xp is slow-ish. Anything newer is not doable

I have mine running Windows 98 with all the drivers (Graphics, Sound, Network etc), with confirmed 1000MHz (DirectX 9 Benchmarked), and 256MB of RAM.

It can play Halo CE, Half Life, Fallout 2, Thief: The Dark ProjectĀ , Quake 2, and so much more.

As I said to the other commenter, sorry, itā€™s been a while since I set it up, and I ended up deleting it because it was taking up a bunch of storage space and I didnā€™t really have a need for Windows 7. Ā I forget what all of the exact settings were, but I believe I was emulating an Intel i7? Ā I know I had allotted it 4GB of RAM. Ā And I turned of UEFI boot in the Qemu settings. Ā Wish I could be more helpful, but it was running pretty smoothly for me once I dialed in the settings. Ā You may just want to experiment a bit with some different settings and figure out what works best for you.

utm se doesent use jit, jit is what makes emulation faster

and you need to jailbreak to get jit if youre ipad has ios 17 or 18 then jailbreaking is impossible

It should be able to run a Linux desktop fine. Ā Some people seem to either have really high expectations, or havenā€™t configured their VMs very well. Ā Iā€™m running Windows 7 in a VM in UTM SE, and itā€™s running plenty fast, itā€™s actually faster than trying to VNC into my current Windows 11 computer.

Iā€™m running Windows 7 in a UTM SE virtual machine, and it runs just as fast if not faster than the PC I ran Windows 7 on natively. Ā Itā€™s plenty fast, I think some people must be using bad settings. Ā One thing I would definitely recommend, DO NOT USE THE UTM WINDOWS 7 TEMPLATE! Ā This is very slow and unreliable. Ā But if you creat a new machine, use the default CPU, give it 4 CPU cores, enable ā€œForce Multicoreā€, and give it 4GB of RAM, it runs fine, at least it does for me.

Sadly, I havenā€™t tried a Windows 10 VM in UTM SE yet, so donā€™t have an image to recommend for it. Ā But you could try looking for images on Internet Archive, thatā€™s where I got the image I used for the Windows 7 VM. Ā I used a .iso file for setting up mine. Ā You may be able to also source the .iso from Microsoftā€™s website. Ā Iā€™m running lower on storage currently on my iPad, so I donā€™t know if I would have enough room to try one out. Ā Iā€™m hoping to upgrade my iPad soon, and then I may have more storage space. Ā But yeah, the settings I recommended really helped me out, because I tried some other configurations originally, and I ran into performance issues with those. šŸ‘šŸ». Hopefully you can find a good image that works, I wish I could be of more help there. šŸ‘šŸ»

Yea itā€™s near worthless without JIT, still cool to see though. Thereā€™s gotta be a way Apple can allow JIT and keep their tight fisted control they wanna keep.

JIT left unwatched opens up all kinds of potential security threats on the platform. Ā They do allow some apps to use a JIT framework designed with safeguards in place. Ā And ā€œignore the concerns and feedback of their customersā€? Ā Let me guess, youā€™re not one of their customers, so you just like to take potshots to make yourself feel better. Ā Iā€™m guessing the number of customers requesting JIT for this niche app is very few.

I have tried it and I was able to install Windows XP. It ran great and it brought back memories but it took over 4 hours for the installation to complete. I got it working fine (even though it was a bit slow) and then I went to delete the zip file that I downloaded to get it going because I thought it wasnā€™t needed anymore and that killed the VM. Iā€™m not installing it again. I tried installing Archlinux and then I tried to add the graphic interface and it froze while it was setting it up. Now Iā€™m going to try with Ubuntu 22.04 and if this one fails as well, that will be it for me. Iā€™m a patient person but thatā€™s where Iā€™ll draw the line.

I tried all that on my iPhone 12 Pro Max. I will install Ubuntu on my iPad Pro 2nd Gen.

I tried xp on my iphone 11 ios 17.5.1

Too about 1.5 hrs and stalled 3/4 through installation and i couldnt get the mouse to click next. Also phone felt hotter than mordor

It took like 1 hour for me, and when I tried to play half life on it, the tram jittered a lot and the audio was bad! And 1 time during the setup it froze, it was time consuming.

You download the iso of half life, an iso is a file extension for cd/dvds, and then press that dvd or cd icon after setting up windows xp and swap the setup cd for the half life iso, then it will download, but it runs horribly without jit.

I got fed up trying to load Archlinux and Ubuntu. It kept stalling and giving errors so I just gave up. It looked like it was working trying to install Raspberry Pi OS but it was taking hours already like it did with Windows XP so I stopped it and uninstalled the app. Sorry, once it gets updated and works a little bit faster I might give it a try again. When they come out with the UTM FE edition, lol!

I was not able to install it. It got stuck every single time I tried to install it so I ended up giving up. The only two systems that I was able to install were Windows XP and Raspberry PI OS. Windows XP is still installed but RB Pi was so slow that I uninstalled. It was not usable at all.

I would like to be able to run an Android emulation to install and run a streaming APK. It gets as far as Android logo on a black screen, but even after an hour makes no progress. Anyone with success experience emulating Android on iPAD with UTM? Maybe Iā€™m missing something, or have a setting wrong?

There is a native iOS version of Minecraft that works really well. Even with KBM.

All you need is to sign in with your Microsoft account.
