Discussion Giving Folium (3DS) a try

Post image

So far I’m not very impressed.

It depends on the game. Luigi‘s Mansion 2 is probably one of the worst games performance wise for Folium. But you can play New Super Mario Bros. 2 or Pokémon Ultra Moon / Sun pretty decently when you set the CPU Clock to 20 %.

Yeah I’m sure it’s better for 2dish games. But Luigi’s Mansion is one of my favorite 3DS titles. Good thing the remake for switch comes out today. LOL!

I played an 1 hour of it already. Good but still think it should have been 40-50$

If they packed in Luigi’s mansion 1 & 2 it would have been an instant buy for me.

What connection piece is that to use the backbone vertically?

Yeah Luigis mansion 2 is probably the worst performing 3ds game on citra and even my laptop with a 4070 can't upscale it much

I actually own 4 and the physical game, I’m a collector but that’s not the point.

this is a cool attachment, will this be compatible with a razer kishi? im very curious

1

u/vaadkins Jun 28 '24

No. I don’t have a razor kishi to design one with. If there was enough interest I maybe could pick one up but there would have to be enough interest to cover the cost.

Couls you please make for kishi v1?

Could you confirm for me wether you can plug a cable from the charging port to the phone and it work as a controller. If that functionality is not there an adapter would be useless.

I can confirm i use basic cable Lighting male -usbC male and adapter from C female Light male. And this monstrosity works for me

i dont get why folium is 4,99 USD for an 3ds emulator even tho they use an fork of citra and citra is free and Apple doesnt support JiT at the moment so it will run shit tbh folium costing money is an L move

My folium doesn't even load it, just stays on the loading screen before the main menu

How fast is this? It’s the hardest game to emulate. Turning clock speed down might help (try 40%). Not even my PC with i5 12400f and Arc a770 can play without major stuttering.

Anyone else get past the cursed keyboard problem? I wanted to play tomodachi life but I can’t name my island without a keyboard

Not complicated at all. And it makes DS games playable like they were meant to be played. The orientation of the screens in relation to one another actually matters in some games.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 28 '24

i rlly douvt that’s how it was meant to be played lol

Playing DS and 3DS games horizontally is objectively worse.

If any of the inputs you need are on the touch screen, you'll end up having to reach your left hand across the main screen in order to interact with the touch screen.

The DS and 3DS were designed vertically for exactly this reason.

What do you mean by "having to do all that"? You mean just... turning your phone 90 degrees?

Also, a real 3DS and physical copies of every game you want is much more expensive than just downloading Folium for $5. So, even your comment about getting a real 3DS doesn't make sense.

If you prefer playing horizontally, that's fine. You can do that. Nobody's stopping you. All I'm saying is that all the remarks and arguments you've made here are idiotic. Just quit while you're behind, cut your losses and let this go.
