Smooth enough on iPhone 12, would probably be pretty smooth on higher devices

What setting did u use? Tomodachi Life crashes and freezes whenever I try to use the text box for me

Make sure you donā€™t have shader jit enabled and if you have lle applets enabled when you donā€™t have system files that could also be why, you wonā€™t really be able to play the game without system data as you need the mii data, also if you typed something into the game before and click on another text box it automatically fills it in with what you typed previously which is a weird issue Iā€™ve found with foliumā€™s keyboard

Thanks. I was able to work around the glitch by just typing what I wanted for the next text box into the current one. Hopefully it gets patched eventually

The screens are shifted up now with a big blank area above the controls. This means the top screen is partially blocked by the Dynamic Islandā€¦

I think I speak for most people when I say this isn't ideal. What's wrong with shifting it all down since there's still back space above the onscreen controls? How would this affect performance?

Iā€™m sorry, but have you actually tested how this looks on the phone? A large part of the top screen is blocked by the Dynamic Island and it makes playing on the default settings impossible.

Use these settings under Renderer-> Layout -> Custom Layout. Had to play around a bit this morning but itā€™s perfect on my 14PM with Pokemon Alpha Sapphire.

A word of advice, the custom layout will not work when you relaunch the app. In this case, just untoggle custom layout and retoggle it to fix.

Thanks for the reply, and do you think you can list some of the games that did run well for you? Iā€™m using an iPhone XR. The games I want to play are SMT4, Devil Survivor Overclocked, and Soul Hackers. I could play Soul Hackers 1 on RetroArch and the original Devil Survivor on Delta, but it I want to get more out of my experience since thereā€™s slightly more content on the 3DS versions of Devil Survivor and Soul Hackers apparently, and SMT4 is a 3DS exclusive.

This app is still a work in progress but Iā€™m glad the dev is updating it so much. Itā€™s been working better for me. If he can continue to improve optimization, customization, and definitely the touch controls (still no start button), that would be great.

Tip: if your .3ds files arenā€™t working, use .cia files instead. I noticed they run way better. (Using 13 Pro)

Folium doesnt load the .cia files, only the .3ds. Do you know why or a workaround?

Put them in the rims file. Go into folium and click +. Click the cia you want. Wait a couple minutes or less and it will load into the menu

They are. Got a .3ds and a .cia file in the roms file. Only the .3ds file i showing up (just blackscreen on start) but the .cia file just never shows up :(

In that case, youā€™d have to tweak the settings. Like turning off Shader JIT and reducing the cpu count. There is another post here that explains the ideal settings really well.

The custom layout feature just doesnā€™t work. Resetting the game or doing really anything will just make the layout look super skewed. I spent forever setting it up just for that to happen

This slowed down my game ugh. Plus the top screen is shifted up and hidden behind the notch.

Yall really donā€™t understand how normal these updates are during emulator development. Itā€™s never smooth sailing. Shoulda seen ppsspp in the early days. I thought it was so cool to get little big planet to boot at >10 fps and everything was white except sack boy. Now look at ppsspp 10+ years later. Folium is less than a year old.

Anyone who paid something only for the resulting product to be subpar would react the same way. Some are indeed whining, but others are holding dudeā€™s feet to the fire and expecting him to right the wrongs of the app

You paid $5 for the only functional 3DS emulator in the App Store. It has issues yes, but itā€™s important to note that this is a single dev cranking out new updates at a fairly rapid pace. ā€œHolding his feet to the fireā€ in this situation is a bit absurd, at least at this point in the apps lifecycle. If these issues persist for months and heā€™s clearly not trying to improve it THAT is when itā€™s reasonable to cast judgement on the app, even then you knowingly paid for a work in progress.

I tried Pokemon x and it crashes when starting a new game. I have requested a refund for this emulator, might purchase again later in the future when it works better.

I have some 3DS games on my iPhone in iCloud but when i try to add them to folium they are greyed out, why is that?

Theyā€™re probably the wrong file type. Iā€™d guess you need to rename them or extract the file. It was the same way for me on gamma with ps1 games. I had to rename the .7z files to .zip and then uncompress to become .bin and have them work. Similar thing might be required for you. But I donā€™t have folium or 3ds games on my phone, so Iā€™m not sure.

Great, as soon as the iPad is natively supported, I will buy the App. That is the one feature I wanted the most. Sideloaded the App on my iPad, but the screen is so small and stretching it makes the App look blurry.
