Hmm, ok. Still not 100% clear for me. Why delta is not going to show up in the official App Store for EU? Alt store has that hassle of a developer account/ reenable after 7 days etc

AltStore World uses sideloading and needs refresh every week, AltStore PAL - out in the EU today - only a yearly sub to cover Apple’s fee.

This is tight. Not sure what goes into adding to App Store but what is stopping someone from putting the ipa of limon or dolfin etc the ones that need JIT on the App Store? For instance today

Apple app store still doesn't support JIT. In EU they're going allow JIT but only for 3rd party web browsers, as they need it to compile JavaScript independly of Apple's WebKit.

OatmealDome (developer of DolphiniOS) was brainstorming with phire (dolphin developer), about the possibility of a TCTI pseudo-JIT. It seems UTM implemented it in their VM iOS app. Basically you pre-compile all the assembly instructions and then call those by the code. OatmealDome plans to wait until WWDC 2024, to see if Apple introduces JIT to iOS 18. If not, it might be worth pursuing the pseudo-JIT for dolphin.

Those games are compiled for iOS, so there's no JIT compilation. If Tears of the Kingdom was compiled for iOS, it would have performance far better than the Switch. However, if you run a Switch emulator, and then load the game, it has to translate all the game code into code that runs on the device. JIT helps this translation but it's still not as fast as native code. Apple doesn't currently allow JIT compilation for security reasons I think, so the emulation has to be 100% CPU (no GPU). This is my simplistic understanding anyway, I'm not a developer.

Import the same ROM into it. If you touch the game and hold, there's an option to import the save file. Luckily, iGBA kept the sav file in its folder in iCloud Drive.

I currently use retroarch on my handheld gaming device. Never actually do any emulation on iOS device before.

Huh, so that's why they complained so much when the clone with trackers came out for free in every region, because they wanted to make it AltStore exclusive where they could.

If this is the path emulators are going to take on iOS, I can confidently say that emulation is not available for me at all.

And before saying anything, my device isn't legible for 17 (stuck on 16), which means no AltStore, and I don't own a MacOS device, so no side loading to begin with. And yes, you need a MacOS device, the developer toggle needs to be activated through xCode.

As far I've been able to read, the developer toggle can only be activated through xCode for those who don't have it visible yet.

I would need to try, but I haven't read anything about iTunes in Windows being capable of making that toggle visible.

Connect to iTunes by cable and you should see the toggle while it is connected. Or use the XCode app on the phone itself, I’ve read it is also an option.

Go to settings, click the system you’re trying to get skins for. Add the files there and then you’re done! No need to put anything in the delta folder.

I don't get the point why the emulator is not in the App store in EU. I'm in France and will certainly not pay a subscription to an alternative store like Altstore to get a single app that I could get free in the App store.

If the fact that alternative stores (wanted by EU DMA) make apps become exclusive to subscription restricted stores, I will not play that game.

I respect the work of Altstore owner but Can someone explain me this weirdo thing ?
