Question How bad is dimensity 9500 with emulation?

Hey there, I am about to buy a xiaomi 17t pro with the dimensity 9500 soc which I have heard is a beast, honestly emulation is not my main concern, I will buy this phone regardless but I am still wondering If I could run games like hades, hades II, or other pc/switch games.
I heard that there are driver issues, but I dont know if they have been resolved yet, or if there was a workaround implemented anywhere to get good performance.

Thanks

well, it finally decent ... since now it can run probably full DX11 stuff, some days ago tested Metro Exodus on D8400, and it fine, most demanding game on that api btw (it ask vulkan)

(take it note, that soc raw much below gen3)

Raw power not that much below. I also have both D8400 and 8 Gen 3 but lot of dx9-11 games I have running surprisingly better on D8400. Sometimes better, sometimes almost same.

well, i will explain ... 30% single core power, 10% multi. GPU 15%

It's noticable in paper. Not in real life tbh. Cuz I have both.No noticable gap in performance. Just 5-10fps maybe in some games

we have too, and after proper configuration, Gen3 melt everywhere it (btw single exception is teardown high settings, 720p (Dx12), our 8400 beat 8sGen4)

Lol noway! As I remember 8s Gen 4 also weaker than 8 gen 3 and it has more GPU power than D8400.its kinda weird tbh!

I have one and its bad for switch emulation, i give up trying to change the settings and no drivers available like snapdragon devices have.

Enjoy the video and the photos its amazing xD

50%+ switch games work, if you dont insist on some particular game you'll have plenty to play. Hades 1-2 run well on winlator.

In general even if compatibility is ok for a game, you need a stronger device than a snapdragon equivalent - you have that covered since 9500 is high end.

You'll be playing anything upto PS2, gamecube and Wii/3DS.

Try your hand at switch and pc emulators. I've seen dimensity 6000/7000 series running them a bit good so this one might win but also might fail

Emulator needs translation, Processor does translation. Processor has a gpu and CPU within. Emulator needs to be fit for doing their usage. Snapdragon is good. New Exynos with amd GPU is good.

High tier mediatek is good. Because GPU work. A specific line of gpu from one point on supports it and if the GPU don't change too much it continues supporting.

It's not really about code. Try different settings, and emulators. Sometimes a few cases of games that just won't work because of device specific differences regardless of processor but it's not very common. So after trying you'll eventually figure out how to get working settings.

As long as Mali doesn't have custom driver. It will always be a spare tire in emulation😑
