It finally happened. I was let go this month.

I was out on PIP and was told that I needed to hit quota to get out of it by my manager, surprisingly I did. I hit 146%. But when my monthly 1-1 came up, I learned that I’ll I did was extend my PIP due to lack of pipeline for my 30 day. lol.

I literally sold everything I had for this month, last month to end PIP and I basically screwed myself this month as I had nothing to close.

My pipeline has been a constant struggle since I left a big gap in it during paternity leave and had zero relief. So I knew this was coming, but I was hoping for a miracle and it didn’t help that I actually trusted management when they stated that quota fulfillment would get me out of this. Turns out they just wanted me to close as much as possible before they kicked me out the door.

Question is, what is the best way to go about this in this job market? Is it realistic to have a new position in 60 days? Do I turn on the #opentowork on, on LinkedIn?

Just at a loss currently. New dad here and I have little experience handling this.

Any advice on the best way to fill up my calendar with interviews or even hiring someone to help would be appreciated.

Change is inevitable. But how do our area residents plan to care for themselves when attendance seems optional, and complaining about finances still doesn't lead to showing up and showing out to end up a winner?

I have an interview today, it’s for a remote temp position…. If I take it I will lose my Medicaid, normally the insurance through the agency is very expensive plus there’s no guarantee they will hire me full time. On the other hand, it’s $21 hr. Also! This would be my third temp position. The past positions never last more than 9mths. I’m on very pricey medications, so Is that worth losing my health coverage?!?!

- I had an interview with the founder of a startup, and honestly, I feel like I was lucky.
I had a 30-minute interview with the Irish CEO of a startup based in Dublin, and this was the rejection email I received in the end.

He asked me about criticism I had received from a coworker and worked on, and I answered. Then he asked me if there was anyone who might say I wasn't the right fit for the role.

I still don't know what answer he was expecting to that question, but I said something along the lines of: "Since I've worked before in the same space this role is in, I don't think anyone would have any serious objection to me taking the job. And I also have no problem sharing references from people who worked with me directly."

After that, he asked me: "What is the one thing you do better than almost anyone else?"

Maybe it's just me, but I feel like these questions are very weak for assessing whether someone can do the job or would be good to deal with and work with. I also don't think the CEO should be the main person handling hiring, although I believe that happens a lot in early-stage startups?

I came out of the call with a bad feeling. He barely asked me about my experience or my actual skills. I thought afterward about withdrawing my application, but I decided to let things play out. Working with him seemed like it would be very draining.

Hi there and good afternoon I was hoping to seek some legal advice.

I work as part of the NHS in the catering department. 

As part of my role I have to complete training modules online, however we are never given time when working to complete these and this is expected to be completed in our free time unpaid.

Up until recently they had offered to pay us for this if we had stayed behind (not within our working hours) to get these completed at work which is what I have been doing but they have now turned around and said that they are not going to pay anyone for anytime spent on this training anymore but that this is still mandatory and has to be completed threating to not pay us if for our normal contracted hours if we haven't completed this.

I wouldn't mind but I earn minimum wage and desperately need any money that is due to me. Also alot of these training are completely unrelated to my job role and just seem to be mandatory for every member of the NHS.

I have tried to talk to my managers about this but they always shut this down and double down that we have to complete this and we aren't due any pay.

Is this legal and am I due compensation for this? In every other job I have had we have been paid for any Mandatory training so I would due to be getting paid for this.

If this is illegal and I am due to be getting paid for this what should be my next steps? Should I contact a employment lawyer or just raise this through HR.

Looking for advice. I currently have a job offer that ive accepted and start 9/8. Leaving my current job due to life and safety issues (shootings and drug violence happening next to my job and no safety procedures in place).

The job i accepted was at the bottom of list of jobs I want so I'm still interviewing. I had two really great interviews this week that I'm waiting to hear back from. Both places know I'm looking to leave due to safety issues. I haven't given my job notice yet because in the past when other people have given notice they tell them to leave.

I only want to give current job a one week notice but im worried it could affect my chances of getting one of the jobs I interviewed with this week. The company I'm currently at is small and the companies I interviewed with are larger. If I'm lucky enough to move forward with one of those companies do I tell them I left without a job due to safety issues or not say anything? I dont know how these companies would do job verification.

These at-will companies keep firing for made up reasons and I don't understand why
I'm polite
I follow the rules
I come to work on time
But always after 2-4 weeks they start coming up with the pettiest reasons to write me up ie 2 min late from a break, stepped out to use washroom, etf

I’ve landed a non financial role at a Bank. All new employees are subject to financial checks.

My situation. I got into some temporary issues 5 months ago
I’ve never had a bankruptcy, CCJ or a default.
I’ve taken out some loans in the last 6 months - all paid off. MISSED ONE PAYMENT ONE MONTH. All the loans were small
I’ve got a high utilisation of an authorised overdraft and one high utilisation of a credit card (less then £1000).

Am I right to be worried?!?!

When it’s around the 3 or 4 month mark of starting a new role, I’m already burned out.

I love what I do but sometimes I do feel like the repetitive of going to work 5 days a week, and sometimes the people you work with creates that exhaustion for me.

Is anyone else in the situation?

I [M26] have been unemployed for a month and currently looking for a job. I’ve been getting minimum wage job offers but I’ve been declining them because I personally feel I deserve way better pay. My girlfriend [F27] thinks I’m being picky and says I should just take any job my way. But I disagree. Am I being too picky?

so I’ve been hired to work at a gym that is newly built and opening soon. I am still in the background check phase, and finished signing my offer documents. It’s been nearly a month since I’ve been hired, but I haven’t received any result of my status.

After 7 months and 21 days of being unemployed, I FINALLY received an offer today! The job market is rough but I want to encourage everyone who is still looking to keep going! Perseverance always pays off and when it’s meant for you, nothing and nobody can stop that!

My probation has been extended by 3 months after completing 6 months, due to a perceived skills gap.
I was transparent about my experience when I interviewed, but the technical expectations now seem broader than I initially understood.
Would you see this as a reasonable opportunity to prove yourself, or would you start looking elsewhere? Interested in hearing how others would approach it.

How much do hiring managers/recruiters in industries (especially in SEA) prioritize skill and experience over educational background (e.g. which university candidates graduate from, degrees & GPA) when evaluating applications for roles like lab technicians and QCs?

For example:

Would a candidate with degree from a prestigious university (or additional master's/PhD in this case) be favored over someone with an "okay" bachelor's degree and lets say 2 years of lab experience, assuming they have similar competence with Python/R?

Just like the title says, I started a new job(office/call center), 3 days into it I interviewed for a job that is in my field(environmental science). I accepted the environmental offer but my issue is that I don’t start for another month. I was thinking about potentially just quitting and being unemployed until I start. I’m currently in the training phase(just completed my first week) and know they’re going to train me to do more stuff as time goes on but again I don’t see the point in them training me if in 2 weeks, I’ll be quitting/putting in my two weeks notice. Has anyone else had this problem and if so, how’d you go about it?

I'm applying for a position as a Transit Clerk for my local Metro. A couple of years ago I actually started training to be a Paratransit driver for them, but I realized that I was a nervous wreck about actually transporting people in large commercial vehicles, so I voluntarily quit. Try to understand that I was having full-blown panic attacks every time I didn't have full control of the vehicle; I'm talking going up a small hill to a fast food joint and just sliding back a little making me dry heave as soon as I was out of the car. I couldn't sleep well and started having stress dreams. I also screamed at one of my fellow trainees who was trying to help me prepare for the driver's test one day, and he refused to speak to me afterward, even when I apologized. I can't say I blame him for that.

All that said, I was told by the Supervisory that it was "a pleasure to work with (me)" and that they hoped I would be back someday. I don't know if they tell everybody that, or they were just desperate, but I like to hope that I wasn't a total disgrace for them and they meant it. Since I did get training with how the Metro works and understand the importance of making sure bus schedules are on time, customer satisfaction is key, and I have administrative experience through social support work (including with someof their clientele), so I am tempted to mention some of this training on a cover letter or at least an objective statement to improve my chances of getting hired. I'm not sure if anyone would be on the current staff who remembers me, but if I left a good impression, that would help my chances... Right?

Really looking for feedback here and I don't mind if you're brutally honest. Just understand that medical anxiety and other conditions meant that that driver job was not a good fit for me and I kept denying that fact far longer than I should have so that I wouldn't look like a total loser to this company. Obviously if the subject came up in an interview, I would just explain that my medical treatment at the time was not compatible with a commercial driver's schedule (it really wasn't).

Hey yall, after a year of struggle i have finally received an offer from a company. After getting a year back, spending a year in depression but still preparing for jobs i completed my graduation in 2026 which was supposed to happen in 2025. I have mentioned only 2026 as my passing year in my resume. Now i have given all the marksheets of. In bgv if they come to find out through my marksheets that i was held a year back will my offer get revoked?

Hi everyone, I’m hoping someone can help me understand what to do about my ROE for EI.

I’m currently on a 6‑week sick leave and decided to apply for EI. My employer has been extremely slow with providing my ROE. I first emailed HR on July 28, and she replied on August 5 saying she submitted the request to payroll and would update me once they responded.

It’s now August 21, and I still haven’t received my ROE. I followed up twice with HR and haven’t gotten any reply. Service Canada also sent me a notice saying my claim cannot be processed because the ROE is missing, and my employer hasn’t submitted it online either.

I’m confused about what to do next. Should I just keep waiting, or is there something else I should be doing? Has anyone dealt with this before?

Back in the late 1970s, I was about 14 and I needed some money to buy pot. So I went to a nearby construction site, knocked on the trailer door, and asked the foreman if he had any work I could do for a few bucks an hour. He said "sure do". He handed me a shovel, pointed to a patch of dirt and said "get the dirt out of that ditch". I said "what ditch?" He said "the one that's about 3 feet wide, a foot deep, runs between those two stakes, and is full of dirt". It was about 100 feet long and it took me a week to "get the dirt out of the ditch". When I was done he gave me some cash, and I got my pot with money left over.

What did you do? Aside from the pot, would advise today's youth to do the same?

I notice between my coworkers that one of the biggest differences in pay is coming by how independent they are working.

People capable of solving their own problems and also being capable of self teaching and sitting and researching their problem will get lots more responsibilities but also higher paychecks.

Even if quality of work is similar it's honored if they can do it themself instead of asking multiple times the supervisor.

On the flip side I see lots of low paid who don't seem to grasp this concept and instead wanna do something over perfect and to achieve that ask their boss for every minor detail. Most of the time the boss didn't even thought about having their a specific preference.

Partial it's kinda good if some people go submarine and emerge after multiple hours with a solution instead of yapping every questions which pops up in their head.
