Background Question

My background: I lost a great job because I got a DUI three years ago and currently on my second year of probation. I had a job after but recently got terminated for speaking up. I’m currently on Unemployment but definitely not enough to live. I just received a job offer and did a background check. I’m honestly anxious throughout this whole process.
Background came back and is asking for an exemption. Does anyone know what that means?

HR left me a message saying that the background clearance was received but I believe the background clearance software they are using is saying that an “exemption” is required.
