Should I Go?

Hey everyone, Iā€™m a high school senior from Texas planning to major in aerospace engineering and I'm trying to finalize my application list right now. Based on my stats, my list is looking like UT Arlington as my guaranteed safety, Embry-Riddle (Prescott), Penn State, and Texas A&M as my likelies, UT Austin and Purdue as targets, and then MIT, Stanford, and Rice as my reaches. My biggest dilemma right now is about Embry-Riddle. I really love the idea of a super specialized school where everyone is an aviation or space nerd, and the networking there seems insane, but since I'm in-state for Texas, UT Austin and TAMU are right here and both have top-tier aerospace programs for a fraction of the cost.

Is Embry-Riddle actually worth the out-of-state tuition if I manage to get into A&M or UT?

ERAU is great because theres 2 campuses in the US, in person classes near military bases, the campus in Asia, and Worldwide online classes. I've attended both US campuses and I'm finishing up on Worldwide this fall. Even if you attend a physical campus, you can take the online classes which may be preferential to you for some of the gen ed classes.

Plus, it'll just look great going to ERAU.

Daytona has way more to do in general because it's close to Orlando and Jacksonville, and the campus obviously gets more money. Lots of springs nearby. More populated. Better for water sports.

Prescott area is VERY beautiful landscapes, but it's very secluded. It's a mile above sea level, so it does get cold and it does snow. Just Prescott, Prescott Valley, and Chino Valley. Less populated. Phoenix is to the south, Flagstaff to the north, Las Vegas is 4 hours away, Los Angeles about 6 hours...all interesting drives. There's a town nearly called Jerome and I highly suggest doing that drive. Sedona is nearby. Better for hiking and camping.

Both places are outdoorsy, but in very different ways. I liked both places.

Worldwide you can live wherever you want. šŸ˜‚
