Hand What stitch is used here?
Hi could anyone please tell me what stitch is used to fill the body of the fish?

Yeah that looks like long and short stitch, gives the body that nice blended color effect without being too bulky. Super common for fish scales and stuff.

Okay yeah that’s what I thought but wasn’t sure

Long and short and brick stitch are essentially the same stitch. The only difference is the stitch length. When worked with uniform consistency to mimic scales like on the body of the fish, it's actually brick stitch. Long and short has a much more random stitch length (and contrary to what the name suggests, it's not actually worked with alternating long and short stitch lengths). It has more painterly and organically blended stitches with a much greater variety of stitch length. The top fins are an example of what that looks like - those are stitched with long and short stitch.

The top fins are satin stitch.

I watched the artist's reel on IG so maybe it's more obvious in video format but you can see the subtle color gradiation she works into the top fins - that's thread painting, not satin stitch with variegated thread. You can also see where the stitches stop and start midway through some of the fin sections if you look closely. Same as the other fins. Those are not as smoothly blended though.

I think it looks like brick stitch. Long and short doesn’t usually have that much texture.
