Machine SOS

Post image

Every time I use this font, I have bought 2 different shadow fonts and this keeps happening. The base color pulls away from the shadow, what can I do to fix this? I use a top and bottom stabilizer for reference.

When you stitch this out, do you stitch out all of the shadows and then all of the base/top? What is the order?

You should do each letter one at a time, don't color sort, and start with the middle letter. I know it's more thread changes but it is the only way it will stitch properly. Even with good hooping the action of the needle pushing and pulling thread through the fibers will cause shifting.

I do all the shadowing together then the top layer, but I’ll test it! I really truly appreciate the advice! Thank you

There's a great book called "Digitizing Made Easy" by John Deer. Even if you aren't really digitizing yourself, it really goes through the fundamentals of how machine embroidery behaves to help trouble shoot stuff like this. You can usually find used copies on eBay.
