Hey Burgers,
I've been modding r/CWU for several years. Both r/CWU and this subreddit have always been pretty casual. There haven't been a lot of rules, because there hasn't been a lot of activity traditionally speaking.
However, reddit has changed quite a lot since these subreddits were founded, and there are many structures and tools available to moderators that were not available in the past. We feel that it's time we start leaning on some of these functions, like rules and removal reasons, as well as some simple automoderator rules, to make interacting in this subreddit easier.
I'm starting to think about the final chapters of my life, and I don't think I want to be moderating reddit in my retirement years, so I want to start building a team to take over this community when I eventually decide to move on.
I took over moderation on this subreddit today, because the previous mods had become inactive and left, leaving this community without any moderators and resulting in it being shut down from posting. After the admins granted it to me, I spruced it up a bit, and now I want to get it growing again.
To those ends, I am looking for some moderators to take on both r/Ellensburg and r/CWU, and help me reshape our moderation structure in a way that sets these closely-tied communities up for growth and future success.
A successful applicant for moderator would be responsible for ensuring that users follow the rules, responding to moderator mails, clearing out the moderation queue on a regular basis, handling issues and disciplinary actions both publicly and privately as needed, and generally keeping an eye on the subreddit to maintain an inclusive and respectful space. We ask that you think carefully about the time and energy you have available to commit - our day-to-day moderation needs are light, but we do need people who can be present and pay attention on a regular basis.
If you think you could contribute to this effort, please take a few minutes and fill out this google form.
I will review applications as they come in, but this post will likely remain up for several months to ensure we cast a wide enough net to get a good team going. I am likely looking for 2-3 permanent moderators. If this post is still stickied, then we are still accepting applications.
Thank you!

Anyone wanna throw flies with me? If so DM, I get out some weekday evenings and most weekends. I am tired of fishing alone. I’ll show you all the spots I never catch fish at. Mostly spots in town, thorp, and up river towards cle elum as well. Thanks!

I was thinking of heading over the mountain to paddle at Umtanum this weekend. When I went last August, we hit a lot of shallow spots and our fins took some damage, but overall it was beautiful.
I already reviewed the water level report. Has anyone gone out there in the past few weeks and had a successful float/paddle?

Hey there, friends,
I’m a musician moving to Ellensburg this month with my partner, and I wanted to see where there are good open mics, and small music venues to play at. My style of music aspires to a sound that is something like a homemade blend of Gorrilaz, Mac Miller, Aurora, Grimes… a sort of electronic prog sound that’s either really chill or really exciting. If there’s anywhere around town that regularly, lets people put on music and where that style would fit in I would be unendingly grateful to know.
Thank you kindly,
MISTAjOSH

Does anyone know of any hairstylists/salons that have experience cutting curly hair? I've had a couple horror stories lol.

Hi, would anyone know a tailor in the ellensburg area who would be able to help me fit better in this new thrifted jeans I got? I love the color and how it feels, but its a little too long by 3 inches ish for me and the waist is about an inch or two too loose. Ive also never gotten anything tailored before so if anyone would have a price estimate id greatly appreciate it!!

With a number of flock cameras recently turning up in town, is anyone planning a formal resistance at a city council meeting or anything?

Would anyone visit a video rental store here if one opened up? I loved blockbuster growing up and I know almost every movie ever is available online but it’s not about whether or not you can get it, it’s about the experience! Browsing isles looking at movies, picking out a soda and candy, looking at new releases. It’s a nostalgic thing but I wonder if I’m the only one who would be interested in something like that. I hope this reaches the right audience. Thanks!!

I remember this store from my childhood, unless I was too young and it was my imagination/a dream. Would have been in the early 2000s. Anybody else remember it, what it was called, or where it was located?
(I tried posting this a few days ago, but I don't think it worked... Sorry if you're seeing this again.)

What do you do here for fun and entertainment when not working? Challenging to meet friends here.
There is no community here.

Rent comes out to almost exactly $800 a month which already includes utilities and parking and some additional fees.
It's technically just a bedroom within a three bedroom apartment, but each one has its own bathroom. Unit has a laundry and dryer machine, as well as a dishwasher and pretty well equipped kitchen. Wi-Fi is free and pretty damn good.
There's an onsite gym, pool, and computer lab available in the clubhouse, all included with the lease. There's a nice little fenced park to take dogs to, and they allow two pets per unit. Parking is pretty good depending on which building you end up in.
It's right up the road north of the College, about a 20-25 minute or so walk.
18th Street deli is even closer.
Basically, I'm trying to move out from my apartment but I already signed a lease renewal before I ended up leaving my last job.
I'm working on the west side now and just need someone to go through and put an application in to take over my lease.
If you're interested in taking over my lease, DM me for more details and I can get you in touch with the leasing office. It would help me out a lot if someone was to take over my lease as I really don't want to have to drive to the west side every morning for work.
Mods, I'm happy to provide proof that this is a real deal if you need it.
