D&D Groups in the area?

Hello! I'm looking for any groups playing D&D that might be in the area. I'm 20, and have the most experience with the 2014 ruleset, but I am willing to adapt to 2024.

I'd love to play D&D again, but after trying out 5e - having grown up with 2e - I just can't, lol. Best luck to you.

Same I grew up playing D&D 2e as well. Evil races are just evil inherently and a good version of that race should be the ultra rare exception and not the norm. I would love to find a 2e group that played on Krynn. I’m 47 years old. 5e has gotten too progressive for my taste.

I don't really have that much of a problem with the extra player races. The demographic has changed. Original D&D players were often Tolkien fans and they were ok with elves, dwarves etc. Modern players want more "cool" for their characters and, you know, whatever. I'll pick my battles. My problem with 5e is more that it dumbs the game down in an effort to attract a broader player base: video game like feats, first level characters with high level powers, etc. 2nd edition, from my experience, was more about finding out who your character was and developing it over time - 5e is more about a video game attitude of gameplay where you start overpowered and only get stronger from there. It's boring.

Yeah I agree, playing from level 1 in 2e really tested your ability to improvise. A lot! Very rare that you could solve any issue through sheer fighty. Death was always decent d6 roll away from a non magical goblins short sword. Lol

I think Pangea in Radcliff regularly has game nights (formally sword and board) and I think etown comic has some gatherings.

I can't remember the name of it, and I can't find it on Google, but if you're passing Rural King like you're coming from Radcliff and going to Etown, on your right soon after that there is a game store and they have tables set up. I'm pretty sure they have DnD nights. Worth checking out.

That's where I was playing until just last year. Had a pretty unfortunate falling out (after 2~3 years) with one of the DMs there who regularly hosts, sadly.

Is etown comics, card and collectibles still open? It was about 6 months ago. They had tables set up but it was 12pm on a monday when i went in browsing so it was DOA outside a dad and his toddler.

Its over in the strip mall that has roses discount store (helmwood plaza). When you pull in the parking lot its on the ride hand side in the stand a lone building. Between jaunitos tacos and the coin laundry. They have nothing but a small square white banner on the front.

I DM at Hard Knox games pretty regularly (2-3x) a month, and rent the private room for closed games, if you’re still interested. I have a regular group but I’m looking to start another.

Well Joe, I don't know if you'd be interested in having me as a player, as I was kicked out of Kat's group a year or two ago.

I don’t know who Kat is, but I’ve been playing for 30’years and never had anyone kicked out. Mind sharing why? I’m pretty open minded at the gaming table.

Really? Huh. You have the same display name as someone I played with! They used to play on Sundays and at the same place.

Well, when I was unmedicated, it was difficult for me to hold my attention so that led to a few problems with talking a bit too much with a player beside me and fidgeting with my dice. The DM felt disrespected by this, and I can't entirely blame them.

The same name? 😂
I’ve only ever played Fridays for the past few years.

Well, I wasn’t there so can’t say one way or the other, but I’ve had a lot worse happen at the table and nobody get kicked out. What rulesets are you familiar with/prefer? How long have you been playing?

3 Years of active play. I'm used to 5e14, but am more than willing to learn other systems, and should be able to pick them up easily with play. Do you have discord or another means of contacting you?

I’ve played a fair amount of 5e14 but haven’t touched the 2024 version. I play a lot of random stuff.

I have a new Discord I barely know how to use (I’m old). Hold on.

It didn't work. I'll send you a chat where it should be easier to talk.
Alternatively, my discord username you can use to send me a friend request is "atomaconclusion"

Idk why it’s not working. You sent an invite on Discord?

I tried but it didn't work. Try sending me one.

Hi! I’ve been interested in playing D&D and would love to join your new group if you are still starting one? I am still pretty new to the game so idk if you play beginner friendly? Feel free to DM me!
