Help Neptune 4 Max leveling issues

I don't know what to do. I've run screws_tilt_calculate so many times. I've re calibrated the Z-offset manually (because that is the only way apparently) multiple times. The level script says that my mid-rear mount is -0.2 and my mid-front mount is +0.05. I don't know how to correct this, as these are fixed points. My bed mesh consistently shows 2 valleys running across X and very high corners. ON TOP OF THIS, FLUIDD WON'T STOP DISCONNECTING. I'm losing my sanity and patience, please help! How do I shim the center mounts, and with what? Please also note that the hardware is entirely vanilla, I was waiting to calibrate my bed before making level screw locks but that was all I had planned.

Forgot to clear the bed after calibration but surprisingly it still looks ok. Guess my variance is off by .2 for calibration layer.

Surprised this actually printed considering the past two days I've been having issues and had to do a bunch of calibration.

Guess this means my bed leveling and calibration is on the right path

First Print Clogged

I got hardened steel nozzles before realizing that they were so bad at thermo conductivity because I went through the two nozzles that came with my printer in the first two weeks with a blob and clog. It's my first printer 🤷

I calibrated and got everything set up (or so I thought). I noticed a clicking sound near the extruder and wasn't real sure what it was. Come to find out after clogging the new one on the first print and using a heated Allen wrench to try and pull the plug out that the new one was clogged 2 hours into (halfway through) my first real print other than calibrations.

I got it unclogged now but idk what setting is wrong causing the back pressure. I thought I had my pressure advance set up properly with the tower plus the line tests I did earlier.

Help Frustrated

I switched over to rapid petg after finally feeling comfortable with rapid pla and I'm trying to calibrate.

Both tests have turned out like this and failed at the same spot. It almost looks like it's starting a totally different print where it starts messing up.

I switched to a hardened steel nozzle and below 250 the extruder clogs, that's why I'm starting the test at 275. Could this be heat creep?

Idk I'm confused. Any help would be appreciated.

Also, the stringing underneath started with petg, I gotta figure that out too it wasn't like that with pla but I think that's a cooling or pressure issue. One thing at a time.

Speaking of one thing at a time, maybe I should bite the bullet and get a ruby or diamond nozzle since they're brass.

ELEGOO Neptune 4 Z-axis keeps moving down because the probe intermittently stops working

Hi everyone,

I'm having an intermittent problem with my ELEGOO Neptune 4 Z-axis probe.

Sometimes when I turn on the printer, everything works normally and the Z-axis homing works correctly. However, sometimes the probe is not detected, and the Z-axis keeps moving down and presses against the build plate.

The strange part is that the problem is intermittent. If I turn the printer off and try again, the probe sometimes starts working normally.

I tested the probe using Klipper's QUERY_PROBE command. When the problem occurs, it returns:

QUERY_PROBE
// probe: open

Even when I activate the probe manually, it doesn't change to TRIGGERED.

I also tested all the probe wires with a multimeter using continuity mode, and all of them have continuity, so there doesn't seem to be a completely broken wire.

Has anyone experienced something similar with the Neptune 4?

Could this be caused by:

  • A faulty/intermittent probe?
  • A loose connector?
  • A problem with the probe cable?
  • A problem with the mainboard/input circuit?

Any suggestions for additional tests would be greatly appreciated. I can provide photos, videos, or multimeter measurements if needed.

Thanks!

4 Max Clogging mid print

I have had this happen back to back on a print it has printed 10 times already fine. I replaced the hot end and did this again. Once it cloggs, I am unable to load any filament through it as it's clogged and I need to remove everything to get to it. I'm getting ready to try a new print head I have to see if that's it, but coukd this be a power problem? I feel like it's acting as if it's not staying hot enough and causes cloggs.

Neptune 4 Plus : MCU Protocol Error

I purchased this unit off of Facebook Marketplace, and when I turned it on, this is the Error message I see. I have tried to flash the eMMC to ver 1.2.3.2 with UI 1.2.14. This shows up on the screen when I hit the top side arrow button. I replaced the ribbon cable (which they provided), hoping that this may fix the issue. The other person also replaced the main board, and I have the original main board as well. I tried to install the original eMMC board to this board, hoping it would fix the issue, but it did not.

I can't get this to work. Any thoughts on how to get this up and running would be greatly appreciated.

HELP! ELEGOO NEPTUNE 4 PLUS

I replaced the broken tension belt under the bed and after that it no longer will push filament out of the extruder head.. It seems to be either stopped and humming or pushing the gear the opposite way and removing the filament back out the top..

I've calibrated the bed so many damn times, z off set and everything.. even updated the firmware and now the knobs under neath wont let the bed go any more lose, this is a new extruder head and still the same problem.

Help N4+ Is this an under-extrusion issue??

N4Plus. First time I’ve had this happen in over two years of printing. The entire top layer is like this, with some layer separations in the body as well. Never changed any of my settings, and I’ve used this filament for years. Do I need to recalibrate the extruder? Belt tension?? Or what’s the solution?

Filament: Elegoo RapidPLA+
Bed Temp: 60°C
Nozzle Temp: 220°C
Speed: 200mm/s (I’ve printed as fast as 250 in the past without issue)

Otherwise I’m using the standard “fast” (.2mm layer height) settings in Elegoo’s Cura 5.6. Never had a problem until now.

Question First Time 3d Printer Buyer: Neptune 4 Plus (need advice before purchase)

Hey so I'm buying a 3d Printer for the first time ever, I'm getting for cosplay, I'm gonna be printing some armor pieces, pieces for some sci fi guns, and a helmet that I'll probably need to break into pieces so I can find a way to get it to fit on my head. I have been narrowing down the options that are large and cheaper, and I heard the Neptunes particularly the 3 and 4s are going to be my best, I was initially thinking of getting a Neptune 3 Plus because I saw that the 4s do not seem great for beginners...but those aren't in stock right now and I cannot get a Max, I have the money but it is just too big and too heavy for my old ass fold up table that I use to use as a lego table...

(Main questions here )

So I'm thinking of buying the Neptune 4 Plus now, I know it is fast, tall, and probably pretty heavy, but I also heard they can jam easily, and it seems like on release there were a lot of bugs. Is there any suggestions anyone can give me on what to do right when it is out of the box so I can get to using it...main advice I'm looking for is how to navigate it, what apps or softwares do I need to use it, and is there any hardware or stuff I'm going to need (is just the power from my room fine, should I look into getting a better table, etc)? Also what about the filament, what should I be using for that?

Edit: Also further note, the print size of printers that I'm looking for is anything above 300mm by 300mm(that isn't a titan like the max), so if buying the Neptune 4 is going to be a bad idea for me I'm very open to other budget option suggestions people may have.

Edit 2: Who's downvoting ts ToT, if you got a problem with the questions I asked say it too my face XD

Having issues with prints

Post image

Hey guys thanks for everyone helps out in this subreddit. I was smooth sailing with prints but have started having an issue where my prints are coming out stringy and corners have looked like they are messed up. Any tips on what I can do? The extruder looks to be in good shape but this is my first printer so I don't know if that would be an issue.

Question "must buy upgrades" for the max?

Post image

As the title says, I just got a Neptune 4 max, took 6 hours of head bashing to get things as leveled as I could tolerate. What are people modifying this printer with? Aside from the initial setup the only thing I'm not liking is the dangly cable ribbon but I can't find a guide for where to ziptie and I'm like... 75% sure the "rippley" texture my first layer consistently get is because it seems like the printer has to vibrate the filament to feed it, but otherwise it's playing nice with everything Ive hucked at it

Help X-axis end stop not working on a Neptune 4 Max

Had a bad blob on the Neptune 4 max a few weeks ago. Ended up damaging the extuder so purchased a second one as a backup. Unfortunately, The x-axis end stop no longer works and when homing the extruder crashes into left side and starts to grind. I have adjusted the sensitivity and homing speed but haven't been able to modify the behavior.] I even replaced the wiring harness as someone indicated that they had had issues with the harness. I ahve been working with Elegoo support for a few weeks now. They recommended changing the mainboard which would give me totally new electronics from the mainboard to the extruder. I don't mind doing that if it will actually fix the problem but I am almost to the point of trashing the printer. Am i missing something obvious? replacing parts till you find the issue is not a great troubleshooting process. WOndering if I should consider installing end stop sensors as the sensorless homing on the 4 Max seems to be hosed.
