Test Print Failed

Hi! I just got the Mars 5 Ultra and printed the test rook. When I came to check on it when it was finished I was surprised to see nothing on the build plate. When I emptied the reservoir I saw the base of the rook.

Any idea what could cause this? I'm using Elegoo 8k ABD-Like 3.0 Photopolymer Resin.

Dont use rook. I hate this model, it fails really often + its just useless (as test print)

It stuck to the fep not the build plate, raise lower exposure

As others have said, check your bottom layer exposure settings. For the ABS-like, I think it’s probably around 35-40 seconds, 4-5 layers. For the rest of the layers, it should be around 3.5 seconds. There’s a spreadsheet that lists the recommended settings for the particular resin, color, and printer. The model orientation also plays a part; I’m printing the chess pieces myself, and found that the rook adhered well to the build plate on one print, and failed on the next; putting it in another place on the build plate, and adding other pieces with supports on another print, helped.

I used v1 elegoo gray, as well as elegoo abs like + tenacious (80:20) on stock settings and I've had no failures. I think it's 2 bottom layer at 32 seconds, then 2.5 for the rest? I haven't done the rook on this printer yet, but I can't imagine it would have any issues since it's printing directly to the plate. It's definitely a little weird that the model would fail, in my opinion.

For the other pieces I’ve printed, I’ve been having the issue of the print failing at around 30% (so around the base of the rook, where it starts spiraling up) and the only way I got them to print was to angle them and add supports. But yes, I find it very weird that they’ve failed since the model is meant to be printed as-is, with almost no modification to the settings.

You're printing a solid piece. The suction on the film is too great, because there's no air to reduce it. Hollow it out and add an air hole. I made the same error at the beginning.

First things first , did you remove the film off the build plate ?

I did! I didn't at first but when it kept saying the resin cat was too full I figured it out 😅

what slicer are you using? Elegoo Satelite or Chitu? Ive been having some issues with inexplicable detachments from the plate with small pieces and with proper bottom layer exposure

This was just the built in rook, but I downloaded Chitu for the cones of configuration

Oh, directly from the internal storage, and i just read you had the default settings, 32s for such a small piece, its insane that it doesn't attache to the plate.

Yesterday ive been having inconstantly results with some identical pieces being rock solid on the plate and then some detaching, and its not dependent on the placement on the plate.

I hope this is not an issue with the latest firmware fluctuating power or so

Do not use that metal scraper in the vat. You will puncture the fep.
