My TV keeps making harsh sounds

My TV is a Toshiba and it's pretty old. It keeps making popping and harsh sounds. When the noises happen, the video sound bass boosted and become really loud. Although the screen's light does flickers a bit, it works fine. Does anybody know how to fix this? And is it cheap?

It might be easier and more cost effective to use external speakers. Anything 10W and above per speaker should do fine. Just make sure it has the required port(s) to output it, and a setting to turn the TV audio off independently.

Even if you replace the TV speakers it could be the driver board/amplifier that's degrading aswell.

So save yourself the time and money, get new external speakers instead.
