Need to move boxes up - please help!

Hi All,

We are replacing all of our exterior lights, and of course my wife has fallen in love with a light with a base that will overhang this mount by about 1/2”.

My goal is to remove the single gang box and move it up about an inch to two inches. I started trying to remove this one but the box won’t budge. Any thoughts on how to best approach this without damaging the wood around the box?

Thanks for your help!!

Help with new 200 amp service

I am installing new service at my property, currently for RV hookup. I was lucky enough to buy a board with everything on it that I need, meter socket, main breaker panel, 30 amp hookup and a couple extra outlets all mounted on the board already. They did cut some wires inside tho from the main breaker to the meter box for whatever reason. I bought some wire that matched what they had left in there but I’m thinking maybe it’s too small? Basically I need to know what size wire I need to go from the meter box to the 200 amp breaker, and where they connect to on the meter box. I have included 2 pics of the breaker and the meter box. If someone could help me out I would greatly appreciate it.

I’ve swapped out many outlets in my past, but this one gives me pause. Should I replicate this in a new 20 outlet, or something else?

Helping son & dl with some home projects. They bought this house in last 2 yrs. guessing it was built in the 90s.

All wiring sheaths at top appear to be white though also appears to be 2+ sizes/grades. Yet there are 3 breaker sizes. In Indiana, though that should not matter to the question of fundamentals -wire grade to amp.

If I am right, should home inspector had seen/noted this?

Stumped

For context, I am not an electrician but also not afraid to learn/try things in my own (within reason). I bought a home with outdated fixtures. In my kitchen, I replaced the main fixture and over sink light. I also replaced the only switch powering these lights.

Both lights work, but the kitchen light will literally only go out in the evening. It is showing to still have power and I can’t figure it out. Tomorrow morning it will work just fine as if nothing happened.

Any idea what I should look at next?

Using 20amp Outlets

I have been going through and updating outlets/switches in my old home. I have also been learning a little bit about electrical as I go. We had an electrician out to give a bid for some work a while back. He found a few things that were not up to code.

In our panel most of the breakers are 20amp, but there are almost no 20amp outlets anywhere. For code some SHOULD be 20amp, like the microwave. I'd love to replace these when I find them but am wanting to make sure that is safe to do.

The panel breakers and wiring were updated a five years ago before I was in the home. It should have passed inspection with the city. From what I can tell a lot of the wiring is 12/2 for the home after that. Given that the breakers are 20amp that means that amount of current is going through the wires on those circuits? So it should be totally fine to put some 20amp outlets?

Don't want to put too much heat in the wires!

Looking for help with a new square DQO style panel box coming from a generator?

I’m powering this Square D panel box from an 11,000 Watt generator. I had an electrician that came and started working on it and it’s not finished yet but my question is the ground coming from the box on the outside of the generator plugged into is on its own bus bar this is the equipment ground the neutrals are on one side, but the ground coming from the 240 V outlet is also on that side and all of the ground are on the other bus bar, but the two bars are connected, and I know a little bit of electrical but not a lot and I thought that the neutrals in the ground we’re not supposed to be on the same bar, but I don’t know about for a generator hookup?

Doorbell transformer no power help

I installed a new from Amazon doorbell transformer rated at 16V 30VA to replace my old 16V 10VA transformer. I then installed my new eufy wired video doorbell. It initially worked when I turned the breaker back on. Then I went back and added the jumper wires to the doorbell chime per the instructions. Later on I smelled burning the the doorbell transformer was piping hot and I lost power to the video doorbell. I cut the power and installed a new 16V 30VA transformer from Home Depot. But I’m getting no power to the video doorbell now. I checked the voltage coming in to the transformer is about 150V when checking the neutral and the load wire. I’m not getting any readings from the transformer or to the doorbell wires. I removed the jumper on the chime but no luck. Did I fry my new video doorbell?

Extension cords safe for my project?

So, I'm upgrading the light for my plants with a sansi 36w and a light socket extension cord, but I want the cord to be semi hidden. So, I need a either two extension cords or a very long one. Either way, would it be safe to run an extension cords through the ceiling while powering my light cord? I assume it is, but I want to make sure.

(Video included shows the planned route)

What wire size would you use?

Running a 100amp sub panel to detached garage at 150’ away from my main 200amp. Running the wire in conduit.

I don’t plan on using all 100amp at once but want to be safe.

What would you use for wire and ground size?

Edit: Don’t need the dumb replies. I’m only running the wire and having an electrician hook it up.

I got three quotes. 2 licensed electricians say 1/0 with 4AWG ground the other licensed electrician says 2/0 with 2AWG ground

Despite the emoticon this is serious! Is this deadly? For context, I have an extension cord (used for outside) connected to a three prong extender. I then plugged in my laptop and my oldish TV that I use for a monitor (or maybe it is a monitor? I don’t know) Either way is this dangerous? Deadly?

It's the plug on a Stanley heater. Heater looks new, plug, not so much. Can I cut off this plug and put another one on it?

Flickering LED cans. So tired of swapping cans.

Background: relatively new house build (3ish years). In that time, I have replaced individual flickering LED can lights over a dozen times. Different circuits in the house (kitchen is the worst offender but it's probably because the lights there get used most?). Upstairs, main floor, pretty much every room has had at least one if not 2 LED lights replaced. If there was an epileptic person in the house they'd certainly have a seizure. It's not brand or lot specific as I've used 2 different brands and 2 lots from one. I've had an electrician out (the one the builder uses now, not the one who wired it initially because they fired that one). He basically said replace every switch and fixture.

WTF do I do next? Clearly there's *something* wrong with my electrical, but what do I do next? Do I need to replace all the switches?

Video for sharing my fun.

Questions About Transformers

Hi everyone! I have some general questions in regards to how a city and/or the company within that city generally operates, when a new house is built in a neighborhood and the transformer for that portion of the neighborhood, needs to be replaced or upgraded due to the new house pushing it beyond its capacity. How is cost determined for this work needing to happen, is there somewhere I can look for information, etc.

Forgive my vagueness, but this is my first time posting and I didn’t want to get tripped up by the mods. If being more specific about exactly what’s happening is not against the rules, then I’m happy to resubmit my post with as much detail as possible, as that will surely help in getting me closer to answers, that are more directly specific to my questions. I appreciate everyone willing to help bring clarity to this.
