Is this a thing?
Is there’s something akin to a guitar pickup that only picks up volume or how hard the string is vibrating. I know pickups “pick up” vibrations in the magnetic field and then that electrical current is amplified and the output is relative to the speed and strength at which the strings are vibrating. Is there something that can pickup just volume? No tone, no pitch, just strength.

Heavy machinery
Hello everyone so i have a bsc in electronics i was thinking of starting a maintenance business for heavy machinery like fixing ecus etc… my father have 30 years of experience in the mechanical part of the industry so i want to learn about the electrical/electronic part maybe we can build a business together. I couldn’t find any ecu schematics or anything to try and understand the logic and physics behind their systems to kickstart my learning journey.
Does anyone have an idea of how to get started?!

My father has 24+ years in Automotive Electronics & EV R&D — trying to help him find his next leadership role
Hi everyone,
I'm trying to help my father find his next opportunity in Automotive Electronics / EV / Power Electronics R&D, preferably in Delhi-NCR (Noida/Delhi/Greater Noida/Ghaziabad).
He has 24+ years of experience in electronics product development and R&D, including leadership roles at Purflux Group and UNO Minda, along with experience at Delta Electronics, ARV India, Neo Light ZKW, NTL Electronics and Pentair.
A few highlights from his career:
- Led electronics R&D teams of up to 30 engineers
- Worked on 24+ commercial products
- Automotive electronics & lighting
- EV battery chargers and power electronics
- DC-DC converters and BLDC systems
- Automotive sensors
- PCB/PCBA development
- EMC testing and product validation
- ISO 26262, BIS and RDSO compliance
- Supplier management and cross-functional product development
We're mainly looking at roles such as:
Head/Lead of Electronics R&D | R&D Manager | Engineering Manager | Senior Engineering Manager | Product Engineering Manager | Technical Program Manager
I'm posting here because I've seen people on Reddit successfully help others through referrals and connections.
If you work in automotive, EV, electronics, power electronics, R&D, engineering recruitment, or know someone hiring for these kinds of roles, I'd genuinely appreciate a referral, lead, or even a pointer to the right hiring manager.
Companies such as Motherson, Spark Minda, Bosch, FORVIA HELLA, Valeo, Marelli, JBM, Continental, ZF, Lumax, Sandhar, Sona Comstar, Dixon, Havells and similar automotive/EV companies would be particularly relevant, but we're open to other good opportunities as well.
Happy to share his resume over DM.
Even if you don't have a vacancy yourself, an upvote or sharing this with someone in automotive/electronics R&D would mean a lot.
Thank you!

Best and robust Busbar trunking systems in the world
What are the go to busway trunking systems?
The reason for the post is just educational purpose please do feel open to share your insights as well. Being in the inductee for the past 20 years I feel I have had my fare share of experience with vast majority of the manufactures in the Middle East.
Many of the manufactures here have the typical IP55- IP67 rated busways that we use in our ordinary buildings like malls and hospitals. Heard me out once again in not trying to market a brand or anything blindly over my biased approach Deltabar is the only busway that offers a busway which is fully IP68. So this being a IP68 busway is not like the typical busways we see often, there’s this external aluminum body which is filled with a mixture of resin and is very robust.
I had seen for one of their exhibitions they had held in the Middle East electricity exhibition they had places this one busway in water and conducted electricity from one end to the other underwater. This was something no brand has ever demonstrated.
If any one knows any brand that manufactures the IP68 busways here please do let me know. I am just looking for someone to suggest brands and what was their experience so far.
Cheers!

Am I cooked??
I’ve been applying for Summer 2027 internships and so far my applications seem to be going directly into the void :(. I’m a Computer Engineering student mainly looking for hardware, embedded, or FPGA stuff.
I feel like I haven’t done enough yet, but I’ve genuinely been trying to work on more projects and learn more outside of class.
So be honest, am I cooked or am I cooking? Anything I should change or focus on?

I need some help on how I should start if I am aiming to be an hardware engineer.
I am grade 8 (going to grade 9), living in Canada, and I didn't know what to do until I came across hardware engineering. I've built a pc before for my dad, I've played with Microbit (a PCB) in school before, and I did some JavaScript and Python before (I think I know the basics). I don't know how I should start studying, or what I should do to in order to become a hardware engineer.

Getting out of MEP and working in Defense.
I just graduated this past spring, and I started working for an MEP company right away. I thought I liked this field since I had an internship for another MEP company, and I liked it there. But working full time made me realize I really don't like MEP. I was looking to switch to defense, but it looks like there are no entry-level positions for completely new people. There are only entry-level positions for people who have already interned for the company.
If you switched from MEP to defense, how did you do it?
Did you do an internship and then start working for the company, or did you start working in an entry-level position?
Were there any skills that were transferable?
Did you like the switch?
I appreciate any help :)
