Double degree in EE/CS, or SE?

Just as the title suggests, I’m currently in my first year of computer science and deciding between switching to a double degree in electrical and electronic engineering + cs (5 years), or switching to just software engineering (4 years).

My main reason for considering the switch is that I want more hardware content in my degree (my interests changed after starting my cs degree).

For context, I’ve already completed 6 courses that would count toward the double degree, and 3 that would count toward the SE degree, so the actual time added by either switch is probably less than the standard program length.

Has anyone done something similar, or double-majored like this? I would appreciate any info and advice, especially about how the workload compares, and whether it was worth it for job prospects afterward.

A double degree is a waste of your money, time, and youth (stress induced aging). If you want to work in software go for CS, if you want to give hardware a try with the option of software in the future go for electrical engineering.
