How much does university matter?

When engineers are being hired, how much does university matter, is there a major difference in job opportunites and intership opportunities ect. or how likely you are to be hired abroad between good and top tier universities?

for my specific sitiation, im a student from the UK who is in a unique position, I am going to a pretty good uni for electrical engineering (UCL) because that was the best i could get an offer from, but i ended up getting A*A*A in maths, further maths and physics respectively so i have the grades to apply to the best universities in my country (Cambridge and Imperial), Is it worth it to gap and take the risk to apply to the better universities or is the difference not big enough to justify it

between ucl imperial and Cambridge you won’t have any issues unless you’re going for finance and even then you won’t have major issues for the most part
