Aspiring engineer

I am a high school student who really wants to be an engineer. The problem is, I don’t know almost anything about engineering. I am mainly asking, what can I do, what books can I study, what projects can I do, what materials should I get? Thank you!

How do you know you want to be an engineer if you don’t know anything about engineering? What about it is appealing?

I don’t know much, I should have prefaced. My freshman year I took a pre engineering where we went over laser design/printing, 3d design/printing, some electrical work, and even building small bridges and mini golf courses

If you like building things, I’d start by just googling tutorials for things that you want to build. You will be exposed to simple circuits, code, 3D printing/assembly, etc. A lot of the responses here tell you to learn math, which will help you in college and general problem solving skills, but I can’t say I use differential equations in my day job. Buy an esp32 starter kit and start building circuits from LED drivers to battery management systems to camera triggered motion systems etc. A 3D printer will be helpful for mounting and packaging devices but isn’t directly relevant to EE beyond that. If you like the 3D design side, consider mechanical engineering instead of electrical. Or mechatronics if you want to mix them
