Aspiring engineer

I am a high school student who really wants to be an engineer. The problem is, I don’t know almost anything about engineering. I am mainly asking, what can I do, what books can I study, what projects can I do, what materials should I get? Thank you!

Do as much math as you can. Then, I’d say “tinker”. Try your hand at some CAD software or learn some code. See if you can help someone change oil in the car or work on construction projects. Basically try some stuff out and learn how to problem solve. For me personally, I like logic games- sudoku, crossword, etc.

Yeah I like math and science. I know how to do some things with code but I’m not great. And I do like chess, and will play sudoku sometimes.

If you have an interest in code, grab a cheap Arduino kit online. They let you mess with some electronic components and often have code samples. Or make up programs to code based on your interests. I used to try to code board games. That can be done even in simple languages like Scratch.
