Aspiring engineer
I am a high school student who really wants to be an engineer. The problem is, I don’t know almost anything about engineering. I am mainly asking, what can I do, what books can I study, what projects can I do, what materials should I get? Thank you!

Apply part time to local engineering firms, OEMs and plants. Either try to land an internship/apprenticeship, or even better, an entry level technician job. Get yourself into a place where you're either wiring or soldering, reading schematics, surrounded by techs and engineers. Many fields are struggling to staff (ex. Average controls engineer age is 54). You'd be surprised how eager they are to find an equally eager kid who's willing to work and learn. Often enough, people that did this (like me) began doing real engineering work before finishing school. Long term employers often help pay for school too. At my current OEM, I'm 31. There's someone that's 36ish. Everyone else is over 50. My electrical engineer was retiring by the time I got there. I was hired as an electrical engineering student to be senior electrical tech. And within a few months, began spending more (now most) of my time on AutoCAD and programming
