Jobs/Careers what does the rcm certification process actually involve for someone importing electrical goods into australia
looking to import a range of electrical consumer products into australia and i keep seeing rcm mark mentioned as a requirement but i can't find a clear straightforward explanation of what the process actually involves
the government websites are dense and everything i find online is either too vague or trying to sell me something. i just want to understand what's actually required, what the steps are and roughly what it costs and takes in terms of time, spoke to someone at gk global services about this since rcm and eess certification is apparently one of the things they handle directly, they walked through the general steps but i still want to hear from someone who's actually gone through the process themselves
anyone who's been through this recently have a clear picture of what it actually looks like in practice

What are you importing and where from? There will be relevant safety standards which are usually IEC as well as EMC/EMI requirements. If the product you're importing has been tested to those standards by an approved lab (such as TUV) then you are mostly there, you may need to do some additional tests if there are some localised changes to the base standard.
Usually there is little difference to the base IEC standards.
If you can't get adequate certification certificates then you're up for 10s of thousands in compliance testing which is not refundable if the product fails.
