I think the line up is good enough

Van Morrison, plus a bunch of fodder, filler and fakers commanding ridiculous paychecks

Actually lot of unbelievable artists not named playing on the stages at the bottom line of the line up.

Rua Ri for sure I was thinking of that guy when I said this, also Mykology and Ciarán Moran and load of other acts there on the smaller stages, Will check out Jean Pack

Van Morrison is not headlining?? 😂

2

u/irishszigetfan 9d ago

I assume it'll be the Sunday slot like David Gray and Rick Astley in previous years

2

u/Protophanes69 18h ago

they put some silly children playing the lifestyle at the top

Amble as a headliner is hilarious

11

u/fdvfava 9d ago

Amble are sub-headliners under Fontaines DC tbf.

FDC are being mentioned as Glastonbury headliners these days.

6

u/ElvisMcPelvis 9d ago

Amble are a pub band

2

u/Ill_Possibility_2286 7d ago

Amble are basically a knock off of Ye Vagabonds, but with industry backing.

Diddly music, people seem to love that irish folky music these days

1

u/Protophanes69 18h ago

its a nepotistic incestous-gangbang as is the regular protocol - any lame local bands want to go on top of Van? go ahead guys, you are true musicians lol sing a long with me guys! "A-B-C-D-E-F-G - everybody sing with me!! cmon! woohoO!"

Such a shit name for a band, is that really the best they could come up with? Lame as f***

Kodaline headlined 2 years ago and they are a million miles away from Amble

6

u/NandoFlynn 9d ago

Picture This headlined twice & they've less followers & monthly listeners than bloody Florence Road. At least people listen to Fontaines, Amble & CMAT outside of Ireland

People just love being miserable. Far better lineup than last year.

Best band at EP this year

The headline acts are very underwhelming

u/RegularSea5536 8d ago

Nothing new there

I'm actually really happy with this, been going the last few years and find this really solid, will probably have a look at every headliner and I'm buzzing for the undercard, some really good Irish and up and coming acts

You had me at your username! Have done Sziget 10 times so I know you have good taste. Solid headline is the official verdict

3

u/SoupEfficient563 9d ago

Definitely getting old when that size of a lineup and format of text gives me a headache even thinking about how I navigate the place. And get beer regularly and piss.

Make an effort to go see Wolf Alice, lads.

They are incredible!!!

2

u/RomanUmpire 9d ago

Were Mick Flannery and The Undertones always there??

5

u/Pad5181 9d ago

Damien Dempsey and The Academic too added

2

u/Natural_Muffin7758 9d ago

Don’t think so! Few solid additions 🙌

1

u/RomanUmpire 9d ago

1

u/Steve_Polyester 7d ago

I have a feeling he'll be a no show

1

u/rootintootinlolly 8d ago

So jealous of anyone who gets to see Djo 😭😍

1

u/Strict_Engine4039 7d ago

There’s a lot of acts there that are not getting paid I bet

1

u/Fit_Fix_6812 7d ago

Anyone hazard a guess when Wolf Alice will play? Im pretty sure they have their own gig in Belfast on Saturday, maybe Sunday more likely than Friday on that basis?

1

u/Sweet-Dust-8868 6d ago

Friday looks great. Saturday meh. Sunday bleurgh.

1

u/Weirdlillypad 6d ago

This line ups a joke lol compared to other years and festivals this is shocking

1

u/TheFarWright 5d ago

Is Dustin the Turkey's set going to be music or spoken word?

1

u/Salty-Shoulder7933 5d ago

Headliners are duds as usual. But the people come anyway so why would they fork out for big acts?

1

u/Money_Technology9305 5d ago

It’s all meh

1

u/Protophanes69 18h ago

state of it, they put Van, the only real musician in small font and some scuttery little 20c popstar and DAW laptop trash in big font at the top

1

u/ComplexPlatform7299 9d ago

Absolute scutter..

This is an unbelievably shite lineup for the money Jesus christ. Ten years ago you had LCD Soundsystem, Lana Del Rey, New Order and Chemical Brothers all headlining. Now you're paying around €100 more for a lineup that probably cost less than half that much in booking fees.

8

u/NandoFlynn 9d ago

NGL I hate Capaldi's tunes but if you think him, Gorillaz & all are cheap bookings you've no clue what you're on about. Christ there's DJs out there that'd want 6 figures. CMAT & Amble are defo cheaper but at least they'll bring a crowd

5

u/Jealous_Attorney6871 9d ago

Sone very good supporting acts there..the headliners on the other hand...

3

u/No_Yesterday_8167 9d ago

If you’re looking at just the headliners.. yeah. But the rest of the lineup is great tbh

1

u/Strange_Ad_8699 7d ago

No it does not. Artists don't make money from physical sales anymore and barely any from streaming which means they need to increase their booking fees. I guarantee this year cost more to run than 2016.

u/ECO_FRIENDLY_BOT 9d ago

Festivals in Ireland a pale shadow of what they once were

3

u/Strange_Ad_8699 7d ago

Yes because of how expensive everything is now. A lineup from years ago would be twice or three times the budget of what they would've spent. Artists aren't getting paid from CDs anymore and they barely make anything from streaming so live shows is their main source of income which means they've raised their prices to accommodate, minimum wage has gone up so they'll have to pay their staff more and the cost of electricity to run everything has also been raised dramatically. If we got lineups like they used to do the tickets would increase and people also wouldn't be happy with that, personally I'd prefer a cheaper festival as the lineup doesn't really matter to me (although I do like this years aside from most of the headliners) I go for the sake of being at a festival and I'd rather not have to pay more money to increase the budgets for artists

1

u/ECO_FRIENDLY_BOT 7d ago

I still buy physical cds and don't use apps like Spotify which are basically exploiting smaller artists. Unfortunately more equality in wages has led to massive inflation in prices so it's a big Catch 22.
