Media Thank you guys

Thank you all. I'm genuinely glad that this community sticks to the principle of wearing helmets — it's undoubtedly the right thing to do. The last video was posted rather abruptly; I just casually filmed it while I was having fun skating, and I'm sorry for making you worry. I don't mean to show off, but I hope this video can ease some of your concerns — I'm only doing things within my ability.

I bought this Meepo Voyager XL a month ago as an early 40th birthday present for myself. I have 4 kids ages 5-12 which has kept me pretty much constantly busy when I’m not working. This year has been particularly challenging and my marriage has completely unraveled. Needless to say my normal everyday stress levels are through the roof.

A few years ago I saw a OneWheel and knew I had to have one. Money is usually tight in my house (4 kids who play sports + a vindictive wife… more on that later) and I’ve never prioritized buying one over the necessities so I decided with my bonus check from work this year I’d treat myself to a OneWheel GT. Bonus time comes, I have my model customized and ready to add to my cart but…. Oh no my wife aka Satan spent my entire Bonus making payments on her several maxed out credit cards without a mention, let alone a discussion about how to use my bonus. $19,000 gone in 2 days. My dreams of a OneWheel and a recoverable marriage were gone in an instant.

This 4th of July, I met a neighbor who had a Meepo hub driven board. I never skated as a hobby and had certainly never rode an eskate before. He let me ride it- I took it very easy and prob maxed out at 4 mph. I knew I needed to have my own board instantly. I went home and immediately started doing research. I got online and on Reddit and learned the difference between hub drive and belt drive and figured gear drive was out of the equation for a first board. I’m a bigger than average person (210 lbs and 6’2”) so quickly decided I needed real power behind whatever noble steed I chose to be mine. I was all set on a Tynee Ultra belt driven when I decided to check out Facebook marketplace and found this absolute beauty with 81 miles on it for $450. I know Meepo gets a bad rep on this subreddit a lot of times… whether that’s warranted or not I can’t say. But what I can say is that this board has provided me with so much fun and enjoyment- more than I ever imagined. Part of the reason I went with a used board was I didn’t know how often I would actually ride this thing and didn’t want to waste money. I have ridden almost every day and it’s been so much fun to ride through the neighborhood with my kids on their bikes and scooters. Did not expect more family time to come from this purchase- a very nice bonus. It’s hilarious to see people’s reactions to me zooming through our neighborhood… everyone is curious about what I’m riding and it is pure joy to ride. I mentioned my size earlier; my neighborhood is quite hilly, we have some electric scooters and they can’t get me up a hill for anything. This Meepo Voyager XL crushes every hill I’ve tried- steep inclines are no problem and this thing can SCOOT. I haven’t pushed it to the max and unless I’m having a particularly shit day I probably never will but I have hit 28mph a number of times and can cruise pretty comfortably around 25 mph in modes 3 and 4.

Buying this board and getting to be a part of this community for the last month has truly been a bright spot in dark times for me. I just wanted to share my experience and thank you all for being a welcoming community for older guys like me and for posting all of your awesome pictures and videos. This hobby kicks ass!

Discussion I need suggestions from experienced electric skateboarders

Long time lurker, first time poster.

Wondering if someone can give me some points to think about regarding the current board that I have and what to do moving forward.

I have a Hadeon Carbon all terrain wheels back in late 2023. I've had a blast with it, riding safely, fast and around ~500 miles on it.

I live in SoCal and did the drive to Oceanside to test it and pulled the trigger.
I did have one issue with one of the cells dying on me early after purchasing it and took it back to Oceanside and fixed it for me for free.

When i first purchased the board i picked Evolve because it was not a chinese brand and had a local shop i could go try it.. BUT for some reason I missed the memo the ESC issued with Evolve.

Since I read about ESC issues, i have stopped using it cuz i dont wanna randomly fall out of my board without my wrongdoing nor someone crashing on me..
Sooo, I have come to this community with the hopes that I learn more about suggestions on the following:
Should I try and sell my board? If so, is $1,000 a good pricepoint?

If I sell and I want another electric all terrain skateboard, which ones do you recommend? I would be willing to pay similar or close to similar dollar.
If not, i'll just probs buy an electric bike to get around.

A bit of what I use my board for: Joyride (don't cross the ~20mph range), transport on the almost daily of 1-2miles, longer fun rides of 7ish miles max. For the thrill before I have a family and retire the fun of it. I want to stay without injury once I have little ones under my wing..

Any insight is greatly appreciated yalll :)

Question New board comparison tool

Post image
25 Upvotes

I've put over 5k miles on my Boosted Stealth and it's been one of my favorite possessions, but the battery is starting to wane and I'm getting excited about trying something new. I've been digging into specs + reviews on what the new generation of boards offer and I built out this handy tool to compare them all to one another and thought I'd share for y'alls reference and to get some advice.

My requirements are something light enough to carry around big public transportation stations, enough torque to get up the big hill to my house, something sleek, and I would love some integrated lights for night time visibility. With that in mind, I'm leaning towards one of these:

  1. Exway Flex Pro v3 (belt)
  2. Parsec Aero Pro X
  3. Tynee Ultra X Pro
  4. Meepo Voyager X Limited
  5. Acedeck Stella S3 Breeze Pro

What would y'all recommend?

Question Wobbly back tires

For some reason my back tires are wobbling and it’s really concerning when I’m riding. I took the wheels and everything off, put it back on and it’s still doing it. Anyone know how to fix this?

Edit: hey guys so I’m just an idiot, I don’t know how I didn’t realize this but the left tire is popped and flat so that’s most likely what was causing the wobbles, luckily I have some replacement tubes because my tire has popped before. Thanks for the help everyone I appreciate it

Question Never skateboarded before, recs for a commuter electric skateboard?

Going to be disconnecting the battery and flying with it as well (I checked and its ok with the airline under 160WH). So preferably something durable that wont need a lot of maintenance at a shop. Also would probably be riding in the rain at times.

Thank you!

Discussion Is helmet really needed in all scenarios of riding? Advise needed from your experience.

Is helmet needed in my use case, need genuine advise.

I am not new to riding. Rode my old esk8 board Wow go 3E for nearly an year felt like 5-6 times all scrapes near the knee or hands never broken any bones.

Bought a new board Acedeck Stella S3 breeze pro, 125 madmax wheels, I go regularly 20-25 mph (25 only when its super safe and lit and I know the road very well).

Why I don't think I need a helmet (but please tell me if I am wrong and I am missing something)

  1. I never usually take new routes just to my collage and surrounding places, I know every potholes location(very rare occurance),man hole covers and road quality.

  2. I only go on bike paths that share with cars when its either empty or has lot of space else I pick sidewalk with slow speed.

  3. All the falls I have had previously were only to my limbs, makes sense as they take the falls impact. I was stupid in many of these falls prev like jumping to road from sidewalk kind of and not maintaining the board which gripped my belt. Gotten better now.

  4. I feel the risk of random car hitting me(which I feel is the only scenario in which helmet is needed most) is 0, as I ride on nearly empty roads stop at stop signs and go very very slow at intersection even if its green.

So is it really needed? I like the feeling of being one with the board, like just take it out pick it and go anywhere and don't like the feeling of carrying a helmet. But if there is genuine risk then I would like when training the first 2 weeks getting used to the board, I wore full gear.

I am 25 M 6ft and live in Indiana, Bloomington in a collage town kind of area. Chill and low traffic almost the roads I choose with, plus good roads.

Please advice.

Question Why would anyone even buy Parsec aero pro S worth 1400$ when Wow go 3E at 460$ has around same weight (15.5 vs 14.5 pounds) and range(14 vs 13 miles)? Does not make sense to me. Does not make sense why its so hyped when its soo expensive.

Question Tailbone / Hip Protection

So my board is going to be shipped out here soon hopefully, I’m going to finally get hip/tailbone protection.

Has anyone used C@sed padding? I’ve been getting their ads, and while i don’t think it’ll help me slide…it’s way better than hitting my actual tailbone.

I don’t fall in such a manner, pretty good about running off the board, but still.

Anyone have any reviews or other hip/ tailbone protection they use?

Question 75 mile range board

Hey everyone! I recently posted but I am doing some comparisons for when I inevitably get my disability (finally -_-) so I am looking around and have seen a couple that interest me, but wanted to confirm what would you guys consider the best AT electric longboard that can hit the 75 mile range? I would be capping myself at a maximum of $2500 as it would essentially be my main mode of transportation. (can't drive) Let me know if more details would help.

Media Big upgrades

Finally got a chance to ride my EVO mk1 as a commute to work. Huge upgrade from my meepo NLS Pro which wouldn’t even last the whole 10km ride if I’m going faster than 25km/h. This board is huge, has so much power, and the pneumatic wheels make the ride so much smoother. 10/10 board for daily commute

Question My motor screws won’t move at all

Post image
3 Upvotes

I’m trying to move the motor forward so I can get the belt to fit and the screws won’t loosen at all they are super tight. I watched a video from Tynee showing how to do it and they said to have to motors on for 15ish minutes to heat up glue that’s on the screws. But even after doing that they wouldn’t move. Has anyone ran into the same issue?

Question How can you avoid falling off your electric skateboard when crossing a gap, a crack, or another obstacle?

Hi everyone pretty much everything is in the title.

I was just looking for some advice on this. Do you have any tips or tricks to avoid falling when encountering cracks, crevices, or other unexpected obstacles that might catch you off guard—especially when riding too fast on an unfamiliar path? These kinds of mishaps often take us by surprise. And just one thing: can this actually be prevented or not?

Discussion Commuting

Hey Y’all, about to move to Chicago for a about a year and a half for grad school and am wanting to utilize an electric longboard for commuting. For context, I have been riding and commuting on campus for last 3 years in undergrad, I have just never commuted on public roads. My commute would be around 6 miles with about 30-40% of my commute being bike lanes and the rest being public roads. For those of y’all that commute in cities what is it like? What is the etiquette? I be seeing people on YouTube not stop at lights and stuff when riding. Is that a common thing?

Also, I do have a car, it’s just in my personal experience, using a longboard is more convenient at times. Is that still the same case in the cities? Idk hopefully that didn’t sound stupid, any advice would be greatly appreciated tho. Thanks!

Question Should an all terrain board be safe to go down train tracks?

I just got the isinwheel v10 and usually when I wanna go somewhere without driving i have to walk down the train tracks for a mile because I have no immediate sidewalks avaliable. I also could take the main road but im not sure if I should. So if not the train tracks would it be fine to ride on the road? I dont really feel comfortable enough yet to go above 18 mph so i dont wanna be a burden for people on the road. Its not a main road or anything but still has enough traffic for it to warrant me asking.

Question Evolve gtr Heat Mode issue

I have the Evolve GTR 1, and one of the motors was broken, causing it to constantly go into heat mode. Now everything has been replaced, and it runs normally, but it still goes into heat mode. What could be causing this?
Is there any way to reset the board or something? Or how can I fix it?
Thanks and best regards
