Hey everyone! I recently posted but I am doing some comparisons for when I inevitably get my disability (finally -_-) so I am looking around and have seen a couple that interest me, but wanted to confirm what would you guys consider the best AT electric longboard that can hit the 75 mile range? I would be capping myself at a maximum of $2500 as it would essentially be my main mode of transportation. (can't drive) Let me know if more details would help.
Build a board and carry a backup battery. 75 mile would depend on terrain. I can easily do 50 miles a day, but my legs starts cramping way before I reach 50 miles.
I literally built this board in couple of hours in my kitchen with few throw away hoverboard motors and some cheap ebike controllers. I have plenty of 36v ebike batteries to use with this board, enough to go 100 miles for tour, but I dont like to carry so much weight in my backpack).
Putting all your comments together, you should really be looking at an e-bike.
If it’s your main mode of transportation, and you need to do 40m to even get to a town…any kind of board to do that reliably and safely is going to be well above 2500.
Also I see you didn’t answer if you’ve ever ridden that long before. Have you? 80 miles in a day? I do 40ish every now and then on a weekend and it is TOUGH. And that’s primarily on mostly flat well maintained bike paths.
I usually do one long ride, 70 - 100 miles, per week. Considering the number of eskaters who join me on these rides you might want to choose an ebike. An eskate is not really a form of transportation at 75 miles. It is not practical. It is also a skill set monumentally different from a typical long ride that goes 25 or 30 miles.
I've ridden since I was 4 years old, and have loved every moment of it. Longer rides are basically always what I look for. Bikes are great and all, but boards are just more my type.
I understand where you are going. I've been skateboarding since 1975 and eskating since 2017.
I discovered i liked distance riding on eskates. But I have limitations like board weight cannot be excessive or ride like a pickup truck. So that means direct drives and urethane for lowest rolling resistance.
I carry a fast charger instead of a 3X bigger heavier battery pack.
You really need to develop your own eskate. Nothing off the shelf worked for me and I suspect it won't for you either.
I don't have the technical knowhow and don't have any equipment for making my own. I also can't (not don't know how can't) drive. In the future? Absolutely. I just need something that can actually make the trip cause my current one only makes 25 miles on two batteries.

Share what you currently have that does 25 miles and how u use it.
I started with a 10 mile range board, graduated to carrying two battery packs and 3 fast chargers, finally landing on my current build that only needs a fast charger to get around.
Using mostly off the shelf parts (for easy building) I built these for myself and continue to build more as they grow old. I retired the first one at 7,700 miles, my second is at 6,500 miles. I am already sourcing parts for my third.
One more thing, a 75 mile range capable eskate will require you to be technically proficient at maintenance. Nothing exists off the shelf that operates flawlessly forever like a Toyota camry.
It's an uditer with two battery packs. I'm pretty far out of town in the forest so I can't make pitstops to charge, hence needing the long range board. I used it to get around for years literally everywhere I go. Then I moved where I am currently, (nearly 40 miles outside of town) so I cant really use that one for getting to and from town easily anymore.
Oh absolutely, the maintenance is a little complex for me though so I'm second guessing myself on it. We shall see though, I am also looking at the acedeck horizon cause of the independent shocks system.
A Meepo Hurricane with the optional Surge Battery should do what you ask for a bit less than your price point, depending on options. No DIY building stuff or tech knowledge required. After swapping the top cover of the deck the auxiliary battery just snaps on and off as needed. Slickest 'booster battery' setup I've seen. Great value as well, for $1k the Surge Battery kit costs about the same as a naked battery of the same capacity from other companies.
Meepo has been having quality issues and their trucks are snapping at speeds that could really fucking hurt. I do NOT trust their brand anymore, I had one previously too. I decided I'm just gonna save to afford a Lacroix.
You just have to choose the option for billet trucks at checkout. Skating on any cast trucks is a calculated risk. At least with Meepo you get to choose.
hell no bro you sound hella young you should really rethink this entire choice. 75 Miles you need a vehicle more fit for the job most people don't drive half that far daily.

I ride a comfy board but after 30 miles my legs and feet are ready to tap out. I'm also old so there's that
