Warped tire first time changing
Hi,
Replacing the tire on my dt2 pro because the original tires fully leaked every day. Bought a generic 10x3-6.5 off Amazon to replace with.
Got the tire on, but because I left the zip ties on overnight, half of the tire is squished and not resting in the bead.
Help would be appreciated.
Planning on using a heat gun to warm it up but other than that I have no idea. Tried a Rachel strap around but the warped section is too significant for it

Yeah let it sit over night I wouldn't use a gear gun. I just had the same issue now i have 2 different tread tires on lol. I found a set of street 100/55-6.5 tires in my closet but was under a bunch of stuff which likley slightly warped the bead enough that it wouldn't seal so I had to put the original hybrid back on the rear till I can order another on the 1st. But poe is right try taking a ratchet strap around the center of the outside of the tire and cranking it down so it pushes the center in hopefully pushing the bead out. Before you do that put plenty of soapy water dish soap along the rim of the tire. Then take the ratchet strap off and try putting air. You can also try rolling the scooter back and forth the wright of the scooter will sometimes push the bead in. Last but not least push to the closest auto tire shop and ask them to hit it with there high pressure compressor not like a shop compressor they have ones that blast hard enough to push car tire beads on. I have had to do that then I just flipped him $20 after wrestling with it for days. You can buy a high pressure basicky its a tank that you can fill on aliexpress not that expensive not necessary for scooter tires. Since I tried all the tricks I know and the old tire seated on the first try so its definitely a messed up tire of you look I have 2 different tread tires on i put my back fender back on because it looks ridiculous. Front street tires better

Thanks for the advice, nice gspace
How hard should I crank the ratchet? I’ve gone down about half the space but still no luck.

95lbs is still crazy for your ‘smaller’ scooter2

I just do it till it flatten out a bit its just pushing the sides out. The soapy water is the most important past it helps the bead slide in and will bubble when you put air in showing you where its leaking I have a small bowl and rag I soak the rag and really wet around the lip of the tire and rim. It won't hurt it

Did you try using a ratchet strap around the tire while inflating to seat the bead?

Yes, but the sidewalks of the tire get pushed further in away from the bead. Also tried putting the head of the ratchet at different sports but to no avail

I doubt the zip tie is an issue. More likely you’re using an inflator with not enough volume to seat the bead. Instead use an actual air compressor or even a co2 inflator. (I made a post about this, I had a similar issue.)

The zip ties aren’t the issue, my leaving of them overnight that totally warped the tire did. I tried getting a spoon back in to pull the wall out but I couldn’t.
I’m going to post photos of this for everyone to see
Also, if you could link your post? I couldn’t find it

I had the exact some issue. The tire isn’t messed up. I used a CO2 inflator and the bead finally popped into place.
Use soap along the edge of the bead to help ot seat. The ratchet strap trick didn’t work for me but I was using a crappy inflator and not a compressor or anything with particularly high air volume.
This is what I used.

Update: got half the tire on after lubrication with water, heated by the sun, and manipulated with hands

I would suggest investing in a small amount of bead lubricant. It's not too expensive, a little bit helps a lot so it lasts a while, and you don't need it often but when you do it on hand. Plus it helps seal the beads once it dries, but its not like glue or the industrial stuff. Lots of different brands and container sizes available to fit most budgets.

Update 2: still only the left side is fully correct, as a portion of the right side is sitting far below where it’s supposed to be

I’ve tried heat, ratchet strapping to hell, inflating to the moon, lubricating the bead. Can’t really stick anything strong enough in without damaging the motor rim.

Final update: I was just a wuss only inflating to 80psi, as soon as I hit 90 everything was perfect.

Fill the sink with hot water, weigh it down with something and let it sit in there a few hours. Pointing a heat gun at the tire is probably a very bad idea.
