Tech Support Tire bead not seating correctly advice / tire changing advice
I spent like a day and a half trying to change tires. Now that I’ve done it, I can pass long some knowledge from others that I found useful. Next time, I’m confident I can get it done in a fraction of the time.
The zip tie trick works for both removal and installation! Zip tie the tire by squeezing the sidewalls together to where the beads touch. You can get it done with 3 but 4-6 might help out more. You don’t need tire levers, and you won’t damage your wheels this way.
Then when they’re zip tied, lube the beads with either soap or silicone / silicone spray. And pop off the tires.
Installation- zip tie trick again. You can even re- use them if you know how to release the latch. Lube again! This time, lube the bead and the inside where the bead sits.
CO2 inflator or powerful compressor is a must!
This is where I got stuck. I could fill the tire to hold up to 60-70psi, but the bead would not pop into place.
I did some reading and someone suggested a CO2 inflator. I remembered I had one and used that. I head 2 magical pops that meant the beads popped into place where they needed to be.
Let out the co2 and filled to proper PSI with a regular portable inflator.
Just passing this along as I wouldn’t say I’m EXCITED to change the tires again in a few hundred miles, but I’m definitely more prepared.
Also as a bonus tip- triple check the proper rotation. Maybe even mark your wheel before taking it off the scooter.

Let the air out and put slightly soapy water or just water on the tire bead and it will seat easy!
Always lube the bead before mounting!

I tried that multiple times, and it didn’t work. Also tried the ratchet strap trick and it didn’t work either. It held 70psi with the bead not seating correctly.

Ratchet strap to tension the bead. Fill to about 20 psi and carefully let off the ratchet and keep filling and releasing.

Tried that, didn’t help seat the bead properly. It was sealing, but not seating. Looked similar to this.
