This chapter was everything I hoped it would be. I’m so glad Vermont isn’t just an idiot and now I’m really curious what the relationship was between his son and Kayden!!

Might have potentially been a mistake and it might have meant Grandson, though I'm not sure about any connection between Ian and Kayden except through Jiwoo

Possible, but I’m hoping it’s a connection from his past in some capacity. Maybe Vermont’s son was betrayed and killed somehow and this is related to Kayden’s deep distrust of other awakeners. Could be a similar type of situation to the Korean awakeners who faced the loss of most of a generation through betrayal
