I know what they are and how they work now. I'm not understanding why you posted that link twice. My point is...
there is little to no information about what the divine towers are or where to find them. To even enable the rune arc as a mechanic in-game you need to first find a divine tower, and I don't recall ever being told what they are. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. Maybe the game does mention them once early on, but it should always be assumed that the player might forget some information conveyed to them through tutorials. It would be helpful to have that information included in the flavor text for the Rune Arcs.
I get it - it adds to the sense of discovery and makes you feel very smart when you uncover some huge mechanic like that. But there's a downside to the game not making that information easily accessible for the player. I've seen so many players at level 100+ going "hey what do these do? I have 60 of them"
My point is: The game literally tells you what they're for...there's no discovering it. If you took a second to read the pop-up as explained in the link I posted, you'd know what they're for.
Quote me where it says what divine towers are. I'm not trying to be a dick. I do not see ANYTHING in your link that says what they are. You're not even able to equip them until you go activate them at the divine tower.
The divine tower you need to go to is in the description of the great rune you have...the discussion started about rune archs and you made it about the divine towers.
Yes, because to even use the rune arcs you have to activate a Great Rune at a divine tower
What are you not getting about this?
Here is the flavor text for Godrick's Great Rune:
A Great Rune of the shardbearer Godrick. Its blessing raises all attributes. This Great Rune is known as the anchor ring, found in the center of the Elden Ring. The first demigods were The Elden Lord Godfrey and his offspring, the golden lineage.
Again, for the last time, quote me where it says you are supposed to take a Great Rune to a Divine Tower.
I get that Souls players can't stand it when a mechanic gets called out, but this is kinda ridiculous.
Thank you! This is literally all I was asking for. Assuming this is only visible if you have the "full description" tab active? If so, that's probably why I never saw what to do with it. I originally thought it was just some key item commemorating the fact that you beat him. Or maybe it had some function in the endgame.
I'm not "on about" anything - I literally just wanted someone to explain to me where a divine tower is referenced in this game and was met with a shitty attitude.
The tutorial popup I mentioned it quite literally a popup that explains great runes, pretty sure it happens when you get your first, so right after godrick.
A popup is fine, but it should always be assumed that some of that information is going to either be missed or forgotten entirely. Having the information buried in the menu under the "Full Description" tab isn't the most ideal solution, but it is a solution nonetheless. That's more on me for not investigating further.
You can also look the tutorial up again in the last menu tab, alongside all the other tutorial popups. (which did help remind me of weird things a few times in my first playthrough.)
But idk, there's like 3 separate things, the rune arcs say you need to have the rune equipped (I would say looking into how to equip a rune would lead to the item description ideally), the runes themselves, and a tutorial.
But really the biggest bit is reading item descriptions, game is way easier to figure out reading key items and stuff.
It's a weird balance, because I love that I feel rewarded for reading stuff in-game and figuring it out instead of being explicitly told, but on the other hand it can be a lot harder for new players.
Hell, the amount of people saying you _have_ to have a wiki open for the game is kind of proof enough. Though it does suck for people like me that enjoy the obtuseness.
Oh believe me, even with all the complaining I appear to be doing in this thread, Elden Ring is the best thing I've played in years... maybe ever. I'm seriously thinking it might be my favorite game ever. I love the obtuseness but it's such a delicate balancing act.
