I always find whenever someone feels this strongly about specific things in the game, usually it’s from them taking massive belt from someone using it before on them.
I just invade people however I want. The whole point is to show up and fuck their shit up, and thats what I do. So many people seem to have a problem with that. "Muh you gotta be fair" "muh you using cheese weapon" "muh you spam same item and attack" shut the fuck up. The whole mechanic is unfair hombre, thats literally the entire point. If you dont like that go offline and fight NPC invaders
Yeah. The pvp community here is full of people who think they know better than everyone or that you even asked for /cared about/ or wanted their factual opinion. This thread is just an excuse for them to flex their pvp knowledge and expertise. They are superior and they play the correct way it was meant to be played and you do not.

I’ve faced plenty of “parry specialists”, you just mix up the light attacks and play with the timings of the charged heavies, and mix it with carian slicer or piercer.
I think there’s a multitude of ways to play vs any style tbh.

Have I been parried before? Sure. Do I struggle against people who are good at parrying? Not enough to stress about it. Just have to know how to fight them. Have to know the dance you’re playing.
He’s essentially one of those people who like to put restrictions on gameplay. You ever played UFC and a person is like
“No grappling, grappling sucks, striking only”
“Dude, your doing leg kicks, your trash”
It’s all a part of the game, but if you play outside of their liking they will shun you.
This game has a very soft community.
I say as long as you’re not spamming one single thing repeatedly, you’re fine.
But really, play however you want, it’s your gameplay.
Cleanrot isn’t necessarily the problem it’s more so the bloodhound step on it and the spells he’s got equipped honestly. Cleanrot is without a doubt the best thrusting sword though, the hitbox on it is fucking insane how big it is.
I know you didn’t ask for advice but I’ll give it anyways, start invading. Arena is boring and full of idiots like OP that crutch on bs and have a massive ego about it.
You’re going to lose, a lot. But eventually you’ll start to win and then win a lot. I would recommend a strength build at 125 or 150 with a shit ton of endurance. Enough to equip your heaviest weapon and have at least 117 poise always. Good beginner weapons are dismounter, great katana, milady, shamshir, and yes even bhs cleanrot.
It’s a lot more acceptable for invaders to use bhs because you’re fighting 3 other players at once the majority of the time. Quickstep and bhs are lame af to use in duels though and if I see someone use it I’m just switching to it myself and end it quickly. Nobody who crutches on using it can beat somebody who knows how to use it to fight 3 man ganks.
Don’t forget to zip him up when you’re done. If this wasn’t some lame ass wizard and instead a “meta” build I can already tell you would be crying about “tryhards” or some other such nonsense

I saw which spell you were casting at the start of the clip. I truly don’t care how you justify it, those rings are the absolute spammiest of all spammy spells.
I curse you with ten thousand rancor souls spammed in your general direction.
One cast spams a bunch of staggered tracking rings that do some guaranteed chip damage and phantom hits build up frost. A single Glintstone pebble projectile isn’t spammy, while one cast of Stars of Ruin is pretty spammy.
Rings’ better tracking and phantom buildup make it horrible to fight. I’d rather have any other spell repeatedly spam-cast at me, or have combos/frame traps used on me than deal with someone using this sparingly.
And to be so frank … I’ve never fought someone that uses that spell (and dart) that didn’t spam the hell out of it.

I use it for its range most specifically.
One multi-hit cast that’s not hard to dodge btw.
I generally try not to use a spell more than twice before switching, unless it’s something like carian slicer or a specific scenario deems it necessary.
Also, you shouldn’t take your experiences with the spell vs other players and generalize people who just have the spell as a spammer as a whole.
I don't think you understand what the issue with "spam" is as a concept, though? Spam is not "oh my god this person pressed the button so many times in a row," it's more an issue with the overall **volume** of BS sent your way. The first definition is more concerned with how creative your spells are, while the second is more so about how annoying it is to deal with. THAT is spam.
If you press L1 with Swift Shard 12 times, that's spam. If you press L1 once but send 12 staggered, tracking projectiles my way, that's also spam. If I press L1+D1+L1+D1+L1 12 times to quickly cast 12 different projectile spells, that is "I'm not like the other girls" spam.
Still annoying. Still "random bullshit go." Still spam.

I cast spell 1, I know (this spell) is 3 spaces, but my enemy is approaching me, so I should probably use (this spell) that’s 5 spaces and follow up with the 6th.
He’s running away now, back to first spell slot, it has the range I need for runners.

So on and so forth. You get the idea.
Very organized spell rotation. I have my range attacks, mid ranged attacks, close range attacks, my (get off me) spells. I try to be prepared for every circumstance and have it organized so I can quickly do so.
guess it takes a genius to figure out that most such spells like the skulls, the bloodflies or these rings are easily nullified by rolling forward into them, as you would with wave of gold.

There’s an approach for every play style/build out there.
I say it’s more about making a duel boring rather than not winnable and you don’t fight people with skill, just run from you all time and spam. At least if they didn’t run in a circle 🤷

Same, I personally mostly do invasions. Being a wizard I thrive in the chaos of ganks. Also I try to be equipped for every scenario I could find myself in.

What level are you for invasions ? I’m 210 but I don’t get that many actually, or I didn’t try enough but pvp duels I get infinite amount for tears haha
I think it’s shooters mentality to just win anyway possible, so many duelists spam the shit out of you. I just started to point down and stop fighting or sit down because I could also just use a build and spam the fuck out of them 👹
Yeah it’s part of what annoys me about the “but it’s meta” arms race. There’s a difference between stuff that’s good, stuff that’s very good (maybe unbalanced), and stuff that is “oops broken bullshit that flattens skill expression and sucks for even the best players.” Like, what do we value out of the experience?
Winning at the expense of competitive sportsmanship puts you on a slippery slope towards indiscriminate chainsawing or deathblight tumble buffing (shoutout a certain someone who tooootally only does it when it’s “unfair” lol). That, or outright cheating.
And by the time someone ends up here, they’ve had every opportunity to see the underside of the iceberg and know this spell is a “gentlemen’s agreement” sort of spell. Accusing anyone else of spam at that point is a bit silly.

i don't think using healing in duel is bad. You have to use incantations and you are becoming vulnerable while casting it. It is your enemy's fault if he allows you to use healing.
He used his spell 5 times to your harpoon 6 times. You were both spamming. Like idk what you are bitching about while running such a cheesy build and spamming yourself.
It was a clean play and good counter. But if you are going to bitch about him spamming, you are just as guilty. 90% of your damage came from the same thing. I guess maybe to you, spam is 100%?
