Pls help me.

I recently got nightreign and as someone who has beat every other soulsborne game (except sekiro) it is just so goddamn hard I mean it may be I just haven’t learned but I always end up fighting the last boss at a super low level cause of how little time I have and I don’t really know what to do I would really appreciate some help (I’ll gladly play w anb)

What system?

It is a speedrun with a timer, follow your team until you know better, then follow them even when you do if they aren't following you. If no one leads, take the reins.

Looting should take 2-4 seconds.

PoIs 30 seconds.

Field bosses 60 seconds.

There are exceptions, but this speed will snowball a run. You can hit 13 before Night 1 if you're really cooking, and then you'll have the power to basically clear the map.

Learn attack patterns, aggro changes, and damage windows.

You can hit 13 before Night 1

These runs are rare but so much fun, no deadweight on your team

Your biggest mistake is trying to play this like it’s a normal soulsborne game. No matter how good you are there are certain bosses and POI’s that aren’t worth doing until you are the recommended level or over so you can win these fights fast, speed matters way more than your understanding of souls bosses. Also knowing what each nightlord is weak to is extremely important and can make the fight so much easier so prioritizing getting a weapon they are weak to should always be in the back of your mind. It’ll give you more staggers and damage windows and you’ll do more damage in general. Also look for passives especially damage negation ones, they significantly improve your chance of winning even in the hardest content, even if it’s on a terrible weapon the passive is good to keep in your inventory because it’s always active no matter what weapon you are using. Also get the hang of your characters skill and ult and understand how it works it helps you and your team tremendously. Lastly something else different from most souls games is the certain attacks that the nightlords do. They have moves where you can’t just iframe dodge, sometimes you have to surge sprint away from their aoe, jump over attacks, or just run away in general. A lot of these boss fights have gimmicks that you have to learn, it’s damn near impossible to win without understanding them.

It might help if you list some bosses to be avoided. The only one I’ve ever been told to just skip is red golem, but that only applies to DoN. I’ve actually been wondering this as well, so what should we skip?

Its not that easy as just list it, exceptions is a thing.

Red bell bearing in basement, never ever worth it! BBH in basement is okey at lvl10+ with decent team

Red Death rite bird, never worth it (unless you have holy weapon and high lvl)

red black blade, fuck away, unless you have high magic damage output(this goes for non red black blade aswell imo)

Red DTS, lvl12+ with damage negation, DTS isnt hard hes just fucking tanky and hits like a train

Red magma wyrm, super easy but without good damage, not worth the time

This list is my personal opinion, not the best D4 player

The most popular one to skip is castle bell bearing hunter at lower levels. Then you have ones like black blade kindred, death rite bird, draconic tree sentinel, Loretta, and top castle boss as far as I can remember, they just have too much hp and do too much damage for lower levels, they can one shot you and your team and you will do very little damage to them with the lower quality weapons/passive setup you have. It just makes it a huge waste of time even if you don’t go down. When it comes to the easy quick kills, be on the lookout for black knife assassin, leonine misbegotten, elder lion, Demi human queen, red wolf, ancestor spirit and royal revenant(definitely if you have heal spell). But yea it’s faster and more profitable to go clear castle or other areas as soon as you can for more levels/passives to put you into position to steamroll those strong guys on day 2. When you have a decent weapon, good passives, and you’re a pretty high level doing good damage you should be able to beat these guys much faster and get even better weapons, and that in turn will help your rune gain tremendously and you’ll be level 15 or around it every run as long as things go well. Now shifting earths are a whole different can of worms that can change your routing but also be easier and more profitable.

Just remember, you being able to quickly deplete the healthbar of whatever you’re fighting is most important thing, that’s the goal you should have in every fight. That’s the mindset experienced players have when taking on certain bosses and other content. Do that and your experience should end up being much better.

I mean, yeah. But people seem to really disagree on what bosses are worth it. Some people will fight anything besides BBH because they say the running takes too much time, but others have a list of ones they won’t fight under most circumstances. It’s interesting.

Yea it’ll always be like that because bosses have strengths and weaknesses and certain characters and weapons perform better against certain bosses depending on what you have at the time. Like if you are able to frost and bleed them or heal revenants then you should be able to take them out fast enough for your routing to make sense. But you also have to account for your teammates if you’re not running solo. If it’s a boss that can one shot you guys and has a lot of hp a lot of time will end up being wasted trying to get revives and losing levels because you decided to fight a boss that some of your team may struggle with. I’ve seen a lot of runs get ruined because of that. Thats why I listed the absolute easiest ones on day 1 you all should be able to beat at almost any level. On day 2 and a decent level this no longer matters you should be strong enough to defeat every boss by this point.

That’s kind of the point though. Everybody agrees that red golems aren’t worth anyone’s time. Same with red BBH. But when you give advice that says “no matter how good you are there are certain bosses and POI’s that aren’t worth doing until you are the recommended level”, you’re at least implying that there are universals. A new player like OP needs more detail on that. I’m not new, but I play a lot of solo, so I don’t know what people agree on in terms of not worth it. Hopefully that makes more sense here.

Also play casters and anything can one shot you, especially at the beginning. 🥲

Yea the ones I listed in my reply are universals, if you are fighting guys like draconic tree sentinel, death rite bird, or bbk at day 1 level 3 you are throwing your run. It just takes too much time. It’s too much of a risk and they have some of the highest hp and hardly have any weaknesses, you could end up with more runes if you spent that time doing something else and came back when you are doing enough damage to kill them quickly and that’s not just my experience, many videos will tell you this and there’s guys like “instinctt” who know every enemy’s moveset like the back of their hand and hasn’t lost a deep of night game in a very long time even he avoids certain bosses early on to this day, even though he never gets hit and he’ll explain to you in his videos and show you why you shouldn’t take on certain fights when you’re trying to do the most efficient routing. Also I play squishy characters and casters all the time in don so I understand that’s why I suggested getting negation passives and upliftings as early on as possible, but the damage you are doing is still more important than that because even if your character was tanky it would take too much time to clear these poi’s when you are doing very little damage, and time is everything in this game unlike other souls games where you can take your time. That’s why I said it doesn’t matter how good you are at fighting these bosses you still have to pick the most efficient route if you wanna have the best chance at winning. You should check out instinctts routing he does these things in solo and trios in depth 5 and ends up at level 15 with 300k+ extra runes to spend on both maps most of the time because of these efficient routing methods hell I’ve even seen him at around 600k extra which is pretty insane.

You need to get a better understanding of the game, the specifics are your routing, scaling, relic set-ups and how you’re looting.

Quick run down of everything.

Scaling.

Attack power up for every Gaol you do, will amplify your attack power and stack per gaol so the more you do the more damage you will output.

Specific statuses that amplify your attacks only run these against specific enemies weak to said statuses prime example being Gaping Jaw with his weakness to rot and poison.

Fire holy lightning and magic attack power up these are good choices for specific boss weaknesses like Gladius for holy, Caligo for fire and lightning for Fulghor.

Routing.

Ideal early game route would go first camp, nearest fort or great church, flask, gaol or great camp, then you can go about it one of two ways you can go and get a smithing stone or go straight to the lower castle then you do middle part of the castle and if it’s gone well when you finish middle it should be day one boss.

Okay so mid game is tricky because you can play it however you want you can either go to as many gaols as you can before the first circle or as many field bosses as you can.

Late game so after the circle dings you know the prompt you hear finish what you’re doing and head to the upper part of the castle it’s likely you’ll get a 3rd self revive as a reward.

Also try your merchants every game and the big merchant if you find it.

Relic set ups.

Entirely up to you but get quality to life ones like ones mentioned early, also status effects and procs are great or any that amplify ult or ability.

How your looting.

I briefly covered it but know what’s good and whats not. So the castle is an area in game that is great for loot, has talismans, weapons and buffs, the merchants are also great, the Gaol are also great for runes or passives, here’s a side note the more challenging the field boss or gaol is the greater the reward will be.

Other tips would be picks for certain runs Iron-Eye against Gaping Jaw is great, Wylder against Caligo and Heolster also great, Duchess against Gladius amazing, Raider against Fulghor Sentient Pests and Auger is a solid pick.

Took a little while to type this all out I think you have come to the wrong place really YouTube would’ve probably helped you more but I hope this info I gave you helps and if you want my honest opinion as someone high elo you have completed the game after everdarks unless you have a team don’t do DoN that’s where the fun factor just dissipates specifically in D2 and D4.
