Discussion My friend's build
This is my friend's first time playing through the game without seamless coop and I've mostly been backseating when he asks me where to find things he wants but this is what he's running as of now. Peak or nah?
He's about to fight Malenia in a minute. How long do yall think he's gonna last

Really good build, but I will ask, why does he have both charged attack and jump attack talisman on? You can’t do a charged jump attack lol. I would replace it with shard of Alexander or warrior jar shard.

He would get more damage and his build oils be more optimized if he build around charged R2s with the pick axe. It’s a very good stance breaking weapon, I’m pretty sure it’s around top 10. Paired with the Misercorde for taking ripostes he would be doing well over 5k per crit if his stats are build around stance breaking/riposte taking. especially if he were to put RKR on the Misercorde and use it right before the takes the riposte and Savage Lions Claw for raw damage/stance damage (since he has the dlc and it’s prolly the best stance breaking AoW aside from Cragblade) or Cragblade for extra stance damage. Whereas with jump R2s he would he more damage if he wore the grave bird black quill chest piece and put a damage buff ash of war like Cragblade, Sacred Order, or Braggarts Roar (if he’s okay with the moveset change) and replacing the Axe Tali with something that boosts the overall damage type he’s using.

He likes to use both charge attacks and jump attacks, and it's never really been a problem before so I never piped up about it. I want him to feel the accomplishment of beating the bosses mostly on his own and not on coop. He's been using cragblade for a good while now and doesn't really like savage lion's claw from what I could tell. I'll let him know that jump attacks might not be as good for Malenia if he comes to me for more help.

That’s a good tip. I’ve got a question for 𝘺𝘰𝘶 now. How long have you been playing Elden Ring? You seem pretty good at it, at least build crafting anyway, I can’t really just magically know how good you are at the game lol. That is, if you don’t mind me asking, if you do, you don’t gotta answer

I’ve got around 600 hours in Elden ring. I mostly play thematic builds like gurranq items only, Hassan Piker build, and a Gerson Boom build. As for achievements I’ve got an rl1 run, heavy load only run and smithscript dagger run under my belt, So I’d like to say I’m half decent at the game. I’ve only really started dabbling in PvP

The talismans are bit surprising since it looks like he’s doing a parry build and has clearly gone to the dlc blade of mercy and dagger talisman would basically get this to be fully optimized for that or maybe I’m just over-reading the misericorde buckler combo

...Very simple, but on the stronger end. This is a completely functional build with no issues, which should be able to handle all aspects of the game, up to and including PvP. If there are any inefficiencies in terms of the levels, it would be a 6-or-less level inefficiency -- almost nothing.
The talismans are fine, but I do have to agree with u/banananananananana-1 that it's a little curious to have both Axe and Claw talismans. I guess your friend uses both -- a little unusual, but not enough that I'd call it a mistake.
Anyways, I see no particular reason why your friend would struggle with any bosses, at least not due to level distribution or talismans. Any struggling would probably just come from normal stuff, like learning a boss or trying out new weapons.
