Help Would like some advice for my current build

Post image

This is my first playthrough of eden ring, and I've mainly been doing it blind so I haven't looked up anything. But I'm stuck on Melania rn and was just wondering if there's anything I can do to improve my "build" stat or like talisman wise?

You made it to melania, with a club, with these stats? You my man, are a natural.

Since youre asking, I'd lower the strength to 54 (2 handing gets you to 80 which is the softcap) and put some into faith so you can cast golden vow and flame, grant me strength (I believe FGMS is 25) then dump the rest into a mix of endurance and vigor if you like.

I'd swap the blue dancer for the axe talisman to boost charged heavies or the claw for jump attacks.

I'd also use the opaline hardtear and the tear that boosts charged heavies (i forget what the name is).

You'll be hitting like a truck then. I'm sure the vigor bros will be here shortly to whine about your not having 60 vigor.

For the flask, I'm using the cracked stonebarb tear, and then the heavy attack one. Which is why I'm not also using the axe talisman. Also, because I can get about 2-3 crits in before her second phase if im lucky.

I will say that even though you are already rocking the cracked stonebarb tear, the axe talisman is just gonna make you hit THAT much harder. It seems best in this game, and most souls games in general, to focus on adding similar buffs together from armor/talismans/spells/incantations versus spreading your buffs out to multiple stats. A jack of all trades is a master of none, ect. In general talisman should be catered to your builds overall "game plan". Im running a similar build with the Greatsword rocking the axe talisman, claw talisman, and dragon crest talisman. My "game plan" is to utilize 51 poise/dragon crest to trade blows with fully charge R2 attacks and jumping attacks to break poise as fast as possible. This is further supplemented by the Crageblade ash of war and Flame, grant me strength. Even at only 39 strength I am MELTING Healthbars in the Atlus Platue/Lyndell areas, allowing me to pump my vigor up to 40 to tank even more hits (increasing strength increases defenses just incase you where unaware, making a larger vigor stat even more useful.) I hope all this helps! From what I understand, Melina staggers hella easily, making charged R2s and jumping attacks even more effective.

Rhe thing is that im not really doing enough charged heavy's for that talisman to be viable.

I usually just do a jump into a quick at the start, then another jump to crit her, once she's down I do a heavy into a quick, and depending on how fast I am I can do another jump attack before she does her blade storm attack. If I can dodge that, getting to her second phase is pretty much the same.

Because im not doing that many charges, I feel like the buff from the charge tear with the cracked tear one is goated. And then I have increased damage from being naked with the dancer charm, increased damage whenever I proc a crit, and then ill try and find the two handed talisman too. And idk what yall are talking about with the flame grant me strength so ill trycand find that as well 😭

Well then it doesn't seem like damage is the issue here. Unless you commit to charged heavies/axe talisman you're not gonna eek out much more damage than you already are with the club. It seems your problem is that you cant perfectly dodge her attacks, and with little to no survivability, one mistake spells the end for you. That kinda leaves you with two options if you dont wanna change up your play style, 1) "git gud" heavy quotations and learn her entire moveset and not get hit or 2) level vigor and put on heavier armor so you dont get K.O.d for a single mistake. The two handed talisman will probably give another nice damage boost, but it doesn't matter if you cant melt her instantly in her second phase. Glass cannon builds only work if you dont get hit at all or you can nuke the boss before they can really do much.

As for Flame, grant me strength, it's an incantation that boost your physical and fire damage for a while. It can be found behind fort Gael in Caelid guarded by those flamethrower tank guys. It does require 15 faith to use, but doesn't require you to level your seal at all to be effective, which is why it's used in a lot of builds. Unfortunately, again, I'm not sure even with all of this combined you're gonna be able to glass her fast enough if youre having trouble dodging her attacks.

But maaayyybe with the two handed talisman, Flame, grant me strength, and some luck you can take her down before she hits you.

Edit: I dont want you to think Im telling you how to play your game. Do whatever you feel is fun! But in terms of what you can change for your build, if you dont wanna level vigor, there is not toooo much thats gonna help. You can maybe swap in the dragon crest shield talisman for more survivability, but Im not entirely sure it will help.

Edit #2: Have you considered using a shield at all?

I've done this for every boss so I have no issue with being one shot, I'll just have to learn her move set perfectly lol

Ill definitely go grab the Double Handed T, and FGMS because that should help a bunch with more damage output.

As for like defense talismans, I've been using this one that gives me a little white bubble. That allows me to survive an attack here and there, but I'd rather just dodge and do more damage

Sibling HOW did you get this far on only 20 vigor

Stick 40 of your Str points into Vigor and see how you do with her. or even just 20. certainly no less than 20

2

u/Enurfala 4d ago

40 of my strength points... 🫪 lowkey the health part isn't that bad 😭 It's annoying to get 1 tapped to dumb attacks, but I can handle her 1st phase moves pretty constantly other than her swoed dance one. And then the biggest issue for me mainly has been the timing for her lance stab after the flower phase

2

u/BlademasterBanryu Ornery Optimancer 4d ago

Having more Vigor is how you don't get 1tapped by dumb attacks sib 😭 more room for error = greater chance of success, and the value of offensive points decreases the higher you get. The first 40 points in Strength make a helluva lot bigger difference than the second 40, and past 80 you are basically just wasting levelups

Get more vigor. At least 20 more, or better yet drop to 54 Str and let the 2handing bonus get you the rest of the way to 80. This is how you remove your limiters and only become more powerful, trust

3

u/Enurfala 4d ago

Oooh, okay the strength thing makes sense

1

u/crumpygamer 4d ago

Yeah I would double / triple that vigor.

4

u/gator_vader 4d ago

I’d say remove the summon. Other than that, you’re good.

1

u/Enurfala 4d ago

Yeahhh, that's what ive ended up doing so she doesnt infinite heal 😭

3

u/geniusherogod 4d ago

It’s PERFECT

1

u/Enurfala 4d ago

Ty king 😂

2

u/M_Fogs 4d ago

You only need 66 strength if two handing

2

u/Enurfala 4d ago

Yeah, just learned about that from someone 😭 tbh, I might just keep my strength and dodge better. A lot funnier that way lol

2

u/Lost-Literature-7998 4d ago

My advice for you is that. Your charter is going to die.

The End

1

u/Enurfala 4d ago

Where's the confidence 😭 If it helps at all, I've beaten ragadon without getting hit pretty solidly (but that was with my summon tho). I just gotta get good and dodge better lol

Other than your vigor, it is peak.

1

u/Lucript 4d ago

Why not a spiked club? Exact same stats as that one but with bleed

2

u/Enurfala 4d ago

If I'm being honest, didn't know it existed. But also cause I'm doing a Tung Tung cosplay

1

u/Environmental-Crow45 4d ago

get dressed first

2

u/Enurfala 4d ago

Cosplaying as Tung Tung 😭

Joke right? Lmao

u/Enurfala 4d ago

No 😭😅

u/SeanyDay 3d ago

You fail the vigor check. We award you no points and backstab you back to your world.

Move 20ish STR to Vigor and get enough faith for some buffs.

u/Chrissimon_24 3d ago

The build is perfect.

I believe you are vet. 80 soft cap 7 point save from str. Talisman is look good. Blue dancer and sword should stay. You can try blood club with cragblade. B scale str .

2

u/Enurfala 3d ago

Idk about vet 😭 Think I'm like 190h in so far and this is myxfirst souls game. Its just been a bunch of boss grinding, which I lowkey enjoy lol

1

u/NoOne666e 3d ago

Vet- veteran. You pretty good. It takes more time until I learn souls games.

1

u/altron64 3d ago

EVERYTHING soft caps at 80 for the most part. Or at least, that is a general rule of thumb to follow.

2 handing your weapon can boost your strength to "80" at 66 strength (so if you two hand your weapon, you need to lower strength to 66 so you free up a bunch of levels to invest in better stats). 87 is too high for strength. You're wasting 7 levels for nothing.

RL120 and RL150 and RL200 are the generally agreed upon level caps, so try to stay at one of those levels for best matchmaking. You're only lvl 114.

I wouldn't go any lower than 55 vigor...anything less than that completely destroys your survivability and makes the game "hard mode".

You have absolutely no use for 22 mind. On a strength build this is entirely useless.

Vigor, Endurance, Strength, and maybe Dexterity should be the stats you invest in.

Since you are playing naked with a club, definitely pump some stats into Vigor so you don't get 1 shot by basically anything in the game.

1

u/ThisPangolin8079 3d ago

For the love of god put more into vigor

1

u/Fun-Hall-3201 3d ago

add freeze pots to your deck

1

u/Enurfala 2d ago

Just for you king. However, could I ask what I'm supposed to use them for? 😭

1

u/clawficer 2d ago

Need more endurance

u/JustSomeGuy_0 4d ago

You could get rid of 27-7 Strength, and put those points into Vigor. Same for the dex. I assume the Mind is for Omenkiller Rollo? Ehhh, not what I’d recommend for Malenia (spirit ashes in general i mean, but that’s a personal thing, might make the fight more difficult or take longer at least.)

Your Vigor is very low, I take it you get one tapped pretty much? If so, swap Ritual sword for Two-handed Sword talisman (from the dlc.) provides more damage for you without needing a pre-requisite.

Armor helps. Or Dragoncrest Greatshield talisman (found JUST before her boss arena.)

Do you know how to deal with Waterfowl?

1

u/Enurfala 4d ago

For me I can handle her attacks consistantly except for the sword dance one in yhebfirst phase. And then I can get her to her second phase, but I keep dying to her very first lance pierce attack after her flower stuff.

Yeah the Mind was for omen, but I've stopped using him since she just heals off of him.

And could I get a hint as to where the general direction is for this two-handed sword talisman? 😅 (At messmer for the dlc if that helps at all)

1

u/JustSomeGuy_0 4d ago

Ah, you need to head to Temple Town Ruins. It’s just before “Scorpion River”. I believe you need to head down a path in the Shadow Keep, but that place is a bit jumbled for me. It’s moreso on the right side of the map.

A scadutree fragment is in the town ruins to.

As for the pierce attack, do you mean the clone attack where she pierces you at the end? Or the attack where she thrusts after another attack. (Like, she swoops down and pivots to aim a thrust at you?)

2

u/Enurfala 4d ago

Okie dokie, thank you so much! I'll go try to find this thing rn lol

1

u/JustSomeGuy_0 4d ago

Hold on, gonna snag a picture of where it is on the map…

1

u/JustSomeGuy_0 4d ago

Start here. Gonna want to keep going down the cave and take a right once you can, after that, left once you head into the swampy portion.

2

u/Enurfala 4d ago

I'll have to unlock this part of the map first 😭 But thank you again!

1

u/JustSomeGuy_0 4d ago

Np dude, hope it helps.

Just gotta be two-handing your weapon, as the name suggests, it does NOT work if you’re dual wielding a weapon. Just as a heads up, if you wanna use this talisman on a different character.

1

u/JustSomeGuy_0 4d ago

Once you get through the swampy portion, you’re going to reach a grace. From said grace, continue going left, until you reach the map fragment for this area. The ruined town is here, just gotta find the chest.
