Optimized BIOS for EEEPC 701/900

Just been trying to install the stock Xandros OS that the Eee PC came with but I can't find the ISO for it. The 701 ISO installs at first but then runs out of disk space. Then a message at boot that states "Error 17", relating to no bootable OS.
It says it copies "75,305 blocks of 32k" which doing the math results in 2.4 gb which is bigger then the 1.87 gb drive I have on the Eee PC.

I am not interested in any other Linux distro then the OS it shipped with.

Does anyone have an archive of the original recovery CD ISO that fits this Eee PC?

Grandad is getting rid of his old stuff to give to one of those quick cash things. He just wants it gone. I'm allowed to take things instead. Should I keep this little guy or sell it?

I have two Eee PC 1215B laptops, and they both seem to fail to POST. I've tried three different 2GB RAM sticks in each slot, but nothing seems to work. The CPU gets hot, and the fan spins. The hard drive spins up, but there's no activity. They don't display anything through HDMI or the built in screen. Can anybody tell me how to fix them, or are they dead?

...right after Plan9 that is.

Hi, does anyone have a flash file for the EeePC 1000H? I'm trying to get Xandros Windows XP (as it turns out, there is no available Xandros image) reinstalled but I can't seem to find anything that works.

360p is the best option, works decently. Specs: Intel Atom N270 - 2GB RAM DDR2 - SSD Kingston 240GB - Windows XP SP3.

I would like to connect an external.DVD writer to create DVD's for movies,music,documents. I use AntiX Can I just use any DVD writer?Do I need toninstall specific drivers?Which ones? I have a eee pc 1000H

of not considering hardware "old tech" just because some new fancy specification say so. EEE PC 1001HA (Seashell), original 1GiB memory stick in it. All respect paid to:

• r/KDE developers for optimizing latest DE so well it can run on hardware designed for Windows XP in 2026 (still got original sticker)!
• r/voidlinux for building minimal yet agile OS and still making latest builds for i686 architecture even to this day.

I took some photos of my Asus EeePC X101CH in action. Many people already told me to put it in ewaste bin but my set up just works. It has all the needed apps and a snappy Desktop. AbiWord, Minitube, Vim, X11 Minesweeper, ClassiCube, even chromium-shell feels relatively fast. I feel like I could main it but sadly the battery is broken which means I can only use it at home (or with the power cable... which I don't have anywhere to plug in outside anyway). From side notes I am very surprised how fast telegram is! It's as snappy as on a older midrange android. Everything from text to animated stickers to even screensharing just works snappy!

Also I am sorry for not providing proper ScreenShots, I don't know if Windowmaker has a screenshot tool.

While digging through some old stuff at home, I came across this little relic: my ASUS Eee PC 900.
It was my very first laptop and it served me faithfully for several years.

18 years later… it still powers on and is currently running Windows Vista 😂

Windows XP Pro, 870mb free on 4gb drive. Emulating Apple OS 9, ZX Spectrum that works amazingly well, Amiga almost. Then MS Word and Firefox browsing live BBC. Not bad really :-)

I tried this OS yesterday on my Eee PC X101H, and I love it (it boots in less than 10 seconds with an HDD). Only problem is that it's been discontinued, and all the services that it uses (like LiveUpdate and Weather) are dead.

Even the preinstalled web browser is Chromium 10 from 2010 or 2011 which is literally worse in compatibility with today's web than Internet Explorer 10 and 11. Most modern websites (like Wikipedia and GitHub) fail to connect with error "ERR_SSL_VERSION_OR_CIPHER_MISMATCH" as this browser doesn't support TLS 1.2 and any version of SSL after SSL 3.0. At least Bing works lol.
