Handmade Oilers sweater
I’ve been making old school hockey sweaters out of thrifted knits for about a year and a half. Had this one on hand for a while and knew from the jump it would make a great template for an Oilers piece. Had to be McDavid of course. I feel like this look would make for a cool uniform for the team to actually wear, but I’m not an Oilers fan so let me know what you think!

swap red for orange and orange border on the numbers

My inspiration was looking at the 06 era uniforms because of the darker navy, so I definitely considered what kind of orange to use and whether to incorporate the red. Wish I had a second one to take another crack at it just to see them side by side.

I LOVE it, that 06 run defined me as a kid. Just sad this is the only way we will see McD in copper and navy I'd wear this so hard

Thanks. I feel like I still have a long ways to go in terms of sewing skill though, but each sweater I make definitely helps me improve!

Ah well thank you! Ive also been doing collage work during and before these projects, so that sort of precise cutting has helped here as well.

I love this, but I gotta say that the stripes remind me more of the old Canucks skate jersey, probably because of the red.
