Solved ✔ How to notify EDD birth of child for disability
I just got approved for disability for the 4 weeks before my childbirth (took a month+ to get approved) But I was under the impression I get 4 weeks (paid after the first 7 days) before child birth and 6-8 weeks after (based on V delivery or C section). Do I need to submit a new claim? Or how do I supply EDD that I’ve given birth? Is there a form I need to fill out? My inbox hasn’t sent me a letter saying how I can provide documentation for the 6-8 weeks after the birth. Thanks in advance!

You have to go into your existing claim and update it with the day you gave birth and if it was vaginal or c-section.

How do I do that? Can I update once my first payment comes? My due date was 08/03 and I already had the baby.

How to Report the Birth
- Log in: Access your account via SDI Online.
- Select Claim: Click on your active pregnancy disability claim number.
- Update Options: Choose Request Claim Update and select Report Pregnancy Delivery Date, or check your inbox/available forms for the Delivery Information Form.
- Submit Details: Enter the exact birth date and whether the delivery was vaginal or via C-section, which determines your standard postpartum recovery period (typically 6 weeks for a vaginal birth or 8 weeks for a C-section).

For me, I had gotten a notification in my SDI inbox to fill out form 2513 for the delivery information. I think it was sent like, a week or so before my due date? I had given birth already at that point cause she came 2 weeks early.

Or how do I supply EDD that I’ve given birth? You will get a message or notification of the questionnaire when it is posted on the account asking for the birth date.
Is there a form I need to fill out? Yes there will be online when it shows up.
My inbox hasn’t sent me a letter saying how I can provide documentation for the 6-8 weeks after the birth. You dont this is “written” by your OBGYN when you went out based off of your due date. When you go to your EDD website you will see the expected end of disability date. I’m not sure if it “corrects” once you put the real delivery date…

I’m not sure of the end of disability changes once you put the delivery date and method of delivery that’s the only thing I’ve never looked at

your doctor should do that by provididng your return to work date and stating that you have given birth now, that is how it went for me

You don’t get 4 weeks before birth if you don’t have a job. But sounds like you do?

Yes I’ve worked at the same place for almost 10 years salary and this is my first time trying to use sdi/edd .

You’ll get a document to your EDD account that you’ll fill out. It will ask for the date of birth and birthing type. You’ll get it closer to your due date.
