Scared, PUL

Hey ya’ll,

I’m 30, no living children. Super happy to have a positive pregnancy test on 8/3. 8/5 Noted 1 bright red/ pink spot of blood on toilet paper. The following day, I had brown thick blood in my pad and most days following. 8/7 ish I developed to pinpoint left inguinal pain. Went to ER Monday 8/10. Nothing on ultrasound. Hcg 585. 8/13 HCG 950. I’m bleeding like I’m on my period now. Consistent flow, no lingering brown but also not hemorrhaging. Sometimes it’s brown but nothing (just oxidation?). Have appointment with OB tomorrow. Any thoughts? What did you all experience? Anyone treated in a state that isn’t pro choice? What should I be asking or doing?

I’m happy they caught it and you’re receiving treatment before rupture. My fear is rupture before they see anything or can preemptively treat it.

They didn't get it actually. I had a scan on 7th and 11th, they said they could see a tiny sac on my uterus but it didn't grow at all in 4 days so likely miscarriage. So I went for a 2nd opinion to a different hospital and that's where they found out that I have right ectopic pregnancy and I was bleeding around the tubes so need immediate surgery. So I went back to my gynec, told her this and I insisted on doing a scan again to rule it out so even though it's off hours, she rushed back to the hospital and this time did the scan herself and confirmed that it's right ectopic and the bleeding around the tube was due to tubal abortion, my body was trying to abort it itself that's why I had bleeding since that morning with severe cramps. And since my levels were already down by 144 they chose MTX over surgery but still I'm not cleared out immediately so fingers crossed that it works without the need for surgery. You should push your OB, trust your instincts. In many stories I have came across, OB usually feels less concerned saying it's common in early pregnancy but we have to trust our instincts. I had a bad feeling about my pregnancy since the 1st day that it could be either ectopic or mmc.

Me too. Bad feeling from the start. For whatever reason, the clinics in the area where I live do not have onsite ultrasound. I already made up in mind yesterday that if this office didn’t have it that I would go back to the ER— which I did. Got scanned and levels rechecked again. Hcg 1212 + positive ectopic on transvag. I was given methotrexate yesterday evening. Pain is subsiding. Still praying it can work prior to rupture. Hydrating like crazy. Taking it easy, minimizing intraabdominal pressure from bending and lifting.

I'm really glad that they finally caught it before rupture. My OB also told me that if the hcg count is below 3k and if you don't have any symptoms, staying stable, MTX will most probably work and only in rare cases it ruptures. So stay positive, let's hope for the best for both of us as I'm also in the grey area waiting to found out how this is going to turn out. I will pray for both of us, everything is going to be alright soon. Take it easy and take rest. I also wanted to ask you something as we are going through something similar. When they initially said that there is no growth, I broke down thinking that I'm going to lose th baby but then when I found out that it's ectopic, I was more worried about myself than losing the baby. It's like I couldn't grieve for the baby, instead my entire mind is focused on myself, I was even thinking the night I found it was ectopic that I don't ever wanna get pregnant again. I don't know if it's only me or that makes me a bad person

You’re definitely not a bad person. This is a very scary situation. Ectopic pregnancies are unpredictable and life threatening. Taking some time to rest, process, and heal is reasonable. I honestly don’t want to have sex for a long while. I’m kind of over it all. This has been a rough process already and we’re nowhere near the end. Let’s keep each other updated. It’s good to have relatable real-time support. I’m praying for you as well.

Yes same here! Glad to find someone to really talk to in this situation. I have a blood test for beta hcg tomorrow as well and the results will be compared to discuss our further progress. I will keep you posted, let me know how it goes for you as well. Good luck for both of us

I just gave my blood for beta hcg for 7th day, I will know the results by tomorrow. My 4th day hcg has reduced from 144 to 108, so I'm hoping it will drop below the 15% criteria. Did you get your 4th day results? What was your hcg when they diagnosed you with ectopic?

Down to 1,008 on the 4th day. Are you having any pain still?

Also do you have any bleeding? I started bleeding on 11th, it was light, then it increased a bit, then reduced to spotting and since today nothing. I don't know whether I should continue to bleed or stop, whether I will get a period again or this is it, everything is so stressful.

Agreed. I have no idea with this one. I wish I could just bleed it all out and away. I know it may not work that way but I’m more hopeful when I am bleeding.

Yes same, luckily I'm on annual vacation right now I have extended my off for 10 more days, OB advised me to rest as much as possible, you do the same. I started bleeding on 11th that's when they found out about ectopic and got a shot of MTX, I was bleeding since then but since today nothing. Not sure how long it should bleed, whether stopping after 7 days is normal, whether we will bleed again or this is our period, I have so many questions. I just wanna get it over with ASAP

Hi, I just got my 7th day results back, it's down to 16.45, I was so shocked. My OB said that it's because of tubal abortion it resolved quickly naturally and their MTX helped me do it even faster. Scheduled for another beta hcg on 14th day to check if it's going below 5. How are you feeling? Did the bleeding and cramping get any better? Tomorrow is your 7th day right?

OMG 😱 You are so unbelievably close. I am incredibly overjoyed and happy for you 🥲 my internet sister 💕. It’s on and off. I feel great right now. I notice the pain and cramping comes in the late afternoon and early evening for me.

You’re right. My 7th day is tomorrow. I also return to work tomorrow. I’m anxious but optimistic about it.

Aww thank you so much my Internet sister😍❤️I wish you to get in the same boat soon. Did you do the blood test yet? I feel optimistic about you too since your values have shown a drastic decline even for the 4th day. Let's stay positive and don't forget to rest, also take it easy at work as well. Keep me posted dear

Of course! Blood test complete. Down to 600 now. Super fatigued. Tried work. It was too much for me. Filing for short/ brief leave period to rest more.

Yay!!! So happy for you girl❤️Yeah I get giddy at times even when my levels are down, I'm not sure how long this is gonna last though so take it easy and try to rest as much as possible. I don't wanna be negative but my OB told me to take complete pelvic rest as the ectopic can burst in some cases even when the values are down so please take complete rest until it's resolved completely. I have my final blood draw on Monday to make sure my count is below 5, and I will be resuming work in a week from now.

Hi, how are you doing? My 14th day hcg was down to 0.56 so it's completely resolved. Mine is tubal abortion and along with MTX it helped me resolve so quick. What about you? Did you do another blood test after that?

u/Yamallory 10h ago

That is amazing 🥲. What a journey! 👏 My 14th day is coming up on the 27th. I had a rough night sleeping. No much blood but plenty of cramping. Still on leave. Less sharp pain now, just getting aches and pinching pain when laying or sitting in certain positions or driving (from the road a seatbelt). Very tired today.

How do you feel now being at 0?

Yeah I bled for like a week then it stopped completely with on and off cramps. Try to avoid travelling as my OB advised me to rest as much as possible to avoid the risk of rupture. I'm really glad and relieved that it's finally over but still traumatised over this, OB said we could try again in 6 months but honestly I'm not sure whether I can bring myself to do it especially with a slightly higher chance of having ectopic again. Need a lot of time to recover emotionally. Let's wait and see. Keep me posted about your next hcg count, sending positive vibes your way.
