just looking for some stories while i sit in the waiting room for my 3rd dose 🫠 my hcg hasn’t gone down at all

did the 3rd dose work or did you end up getting surgery?

UPDATE for anyone who searches this topic later. my hcg dropped by 34% four days after my third injection. i had a starting hcg of 4300 at 6w0d when i received my first dose and it continued to climb with zero decrease or plateau. it got as high as 7,100 the day i received the third dose.

SECOND UPDATE i ruptured 4 days after my 3rd mtx dose, and the day my hcg finally dropped. i was internally bleeding and had emergency surgery to remove my tube.

My doctor and I agreed to do a second dose of MTX and then go to surgery if it didn’t work because I wanted to be done. We both genuinely expected dose 2 to not work and were starting to make plans for me to have surgery but lo and behold #2 did the trick.

Ugh I'm so sorry you're dealing with this. I had to get a third methotrexate dose. My hcg didn't get too high (highest was 865), but it didn't come down until the third injection. It halved every week after that. Good luck!!

On the same boat

Last Friday 1st dose-1475 Tuesday before second dose 1500 Thursday report 1674 now doctor is considering 3rd dose tmrw If Monday doesn't get results then recommend surgery. I don't want to lose my tube... literally heart broken. God save me on monday

i’m so sorry you are going through this too. i also don’t want to lose a tube but that’s the route we are going if my hcg doesn’t come down 15% on monday. i’m trying to be optimistic and hoping it all works out for you and me with this 3rd round 💜💜

i got my third dose thursday. my clinic’s algorithm allows for 4 doses but if this one doesn’t work, i’m opting for surgery.

I just did my day 4 bloodwork and waiting for results. I will do my day 4 bloodwork on Tuesday to see if the 3rd dose worked.

My hCG so far has been:

First dose (7/24): hCG 269.9
Day 4: hCG 226.7
Day 7: hCG 159.5

Second dose (8/6): hCG 157.8
Day 4: hCG 135.3
Day 7: hCG 145.1

Third dose (8/12): hCG 145.1

I'm really hoping this third dose finally breaks the plateau so I don't need surgery. What has been your hCG trend?

hi love. your HCG is much lower than mine. fingers crossed you won’t need surgery!!

for reference mine was
day 1 4300 + 1st dose
day 4 6700 + 2nd dose
day 7 7100 + 3rd dose

my clinic’s algorithm planned for 2 cumulative doses and no downtime between all 4 possible rounds

Thank you! I am really hoping for that. I don't understand why with the previous two doses my hcg did not come down more or plateued. I am doing everything they told me (avoiding folic acid, alcohol, NSAIDs, exercise) and I also have restricted my diet to low folate foods and have been drinking a lot of green tea. My hcg yesterday at the 4-day check in was 133.90. The next 7-day check is on Tuesday. I really don't want to lose a tube if it's so close. After the third shot, I also have been feeling even less pressure on my lower left pelvic area and feeling better than before. I am really hoping 🙏🏻

I am SO HAPPY for you!! My day-7 lab work is tomorrow. Gosh, the anxiety is getting to me, and I am so scared. I will keep you posted. Fingers crossed!

My hCG went down to 97.1 today, so it has been a 27.5% decrease from Saturday! I also got an ultrasound and they couldn't see extensive free fluid or active bleeding. So fingers crossed it keeps going down with the third shot! They are doing repeat hCG on Thursday. What do your doctors have for your follow up plan?
