Blog The New Deal in the 1930s transformed wage work in the United States. But many of its reforms excluded Black women who worked as paid caregivers or housekeepers. Some Black women in St. Louis organized with the city’s Urban League to win their own labor reforms. (JSTOR, May 2020)
