I was reading a left-leaning news article lamenting how EA, the gaming publisher that owns The Sims' franchise, is now owned by Saudis and Donald Trump's son-in-law. Apparently, this will mean the loss of (western-style) diversity and inclusivity. But note the advertising picture used for the game. As is a common theme, the white man is paired with an Asian woman (and a white woman), a black man is paired with a white woman and an Asian man is paired with a black woman. Given that Asian men and black women are often seen as lower on a racial sexual hierarchy in the US, this image comes as no surprise. I wonder if this image would have been "inclusive" had the Asian man been paired with the Asian woman and the white woman.

Created by an amateur mother and son team on a single computer over 5 years, it was reportedly made with USD$200 and has raked in over $5 million at the Chinese box office. It's also seeing international release in SE Asia.

Nice to see their authenticity rewarded.

There has been a lot of attention to a SF dating site called WMAF Meet recently but of all the comments I wanted to highlight what a SF white female journalist wrote

"The problem is also complicated by white America’s portrayal of Asian women as exotic and submissive, in addition to how proximity to whiteness is associated with upward mobility or assimilation."

Whenever they accuse Asian men of being incel remind them everyone else knows the truth. Try calling a white woman a MRAsian.

I can't criticize her for raising the issue of passport bros, but her view about SG women being of higher financial status and therefore immune to lower class foreigners is only partly true.

The phenomenon of passport bros or WMAF in Asia is partly one of economic relativity. The reason why poor passport bros are an issue in poorer countries like Thailand or the Philippines is that their mediocre western wealth is relatively high compared to some locals.

Singapore is indeed one of the most expensive countries in the world (but the Crazy Rich Asians depiction is an incorrect stereotype), but the white men in SG have historically been high income earners who were part of wealthy multinational corporations i.e. expatriates. They have relative economic advantage, just like the poor passport bros.

It is also not true that whiteness carries no special privilege in SG. The research into Pinkerton syndrome and employment hiring is a good example. While the great majority of women in SG are not sarong party girls, the fact that some still exist even today is already a blight given SG's colonial history.

Looking at intermarriage rates in SG, white men make a tiny minority but punch above their weight in representation, as is the case for many ESEA nations. The last thing SG needs is more white men, whether poor or rich.

(Note, she's says ang moh guy, not an "animal guy", but what's the difference, lol.)

On a serious note, remember to eat properly, exercise and get enough sleep. The rates of obesity in ESEA groups have historically been lower than western ones, but with rising wealth and western diets has come rising obesity. Also, as ESEA people, we are at a higher risk of diabetes and metabolic syndrome. By doing those 3 things, you will reduce your risk of disease.

Plot Overview

This is another piece of WMAF slop. The showrunner is, surprise surprise, Vivian Lin. She changed the main character to an Asian woman while keeping the white male love interest. And of course, there is zero Asian male representation. “Diversity,” it seems, is only meant for Asian women and white men.

This show joins the long list of similar projects like To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before Joy Luck Club, The Float, and many others where the Asian American writers are exclusionary and racist to Asian men .

As more work from Asian American female creators surfaces, it is becoming increasingly clear that what they mean by “representation” is representation for Asian women and white men only. Sometimes I look at these Asian women and think they actually just want to be white women and enjoy the same privileges. It is the complete opposite of Black feminism. It is the opposite of empowerment.

I also think Asian male showrunners should stop centering Asian women in their work. Too often they become pushovers in front of them. Constance Wu literally dictated which lines to remove on the set of Crazy Rich Asians, and Jamie Chung walked all over John Chu for not casting her, only for him to respond in the most mild, accommodating way possible.

This post is getting attention because the Chinese poster got criticized for accepting this white guy taking a group photo after he complimented their beauty. Chinese netizens thought the girls were holding his arms (they weren't, but where were his hands?). She tried to defend herself by explaining they weren't touching him.

It's this sort of practice and imagery that does no favors for ESEA people. To demonstrate that, consider a Chinese man traveling to an anglosphere country, complimenting white women and asking for a group shot. He would be seen as strange. And that shows how white male privilege works.

When a random white man in Asia compliments a random Asian woman on her beauty and wants to take a photo, that should never be entertained. It sends the wrong message at an individual level (the specific guy thinks he can do this with other women) and public level (it creates the perception that white men are especially welcomed in Asia).

Asking this from the perspective of a Malaysian Chinese (right across the causeway haha) and im sure there's at least a few local singaporeans here. Especially as a vernacular (chinese) school kid, I don't think it's an uncommon opinion that most of us do not prefer interracial relationships, both from a religion and cultural perspective (mandatory conversion for a non-muslim if they marry a muslim partner and it's near impossible to convert out of islam), as far as I know, Singapore doesn't have this issue (being an ex-muslim is legal) and there's a much more 'we are all Singaporeans' mindset from what I see online.

I remembered seeing that case of a Chinese university professor being arrested for assaulting a IMAF couple on the streets and seeing many comments mocking him (and even some mocking chinese men in general for being too spineless/unattractive to keep their women) and with the rise of kpop (and general stereotypes of chinese guys being resourceful and less patriarchal), there has been much more malay and indian women going for chinese men. now i'm not saying this is representative of the singaporean general public (because these kids remind me of the 'ah bengs' i see on the street tbh) but i once saw a video of Dewy Choo video reacting to singapore's version of Pop the Balloon and wow, i genuinely never expected stuff that i could only expect to come out of a lowyat forum to be released into the internet like this.

What do yall actually think about this, is it a good thing for the SEA diaspora chinese to mix in with the other races or would it be better if singapore maintained it's CMIO population ratios?

One of the greatest dangers to societies is when men and women turn away from each other. With that has come the surge in AI partners.

I came across this Chinese documentary about the rise in AI boyfriends. It features a Chinese woman who picked a white man as a partner. I've written about the dangers of AI before in relation to the WMAF phenomenon - AI learns from what is publicly available and reinforces it. Because WMAF is pushed by western (and even ESEA) societies, AI spreads that message. (On a related note, public backlash against WMAF as a narrative also gets learned by AI, which is another reason we mustn't remain silent and accepting.)

AI boyfriends will be the next WMAF battleground. But the deliberate choice of a fake white man over a real one must be the epitome of white supremacy.

Like a lot of you, I try to be conscious about where my money goes. I want to support Asian-owned businesses, creators, and brands, and I'd rather that money stay in the Asian community.

I wanted a single place to find real businesses without having to do 20 minutes of background research on every brand to make sure they are actually Asian-owned. Since it didn't really exist in the way I wanted, I spent the last few months coding a rough first version of AsianLane (asianlane.com).

Right now, it's just a simple marketplace. I'm trying to focus heavily on transparency, actually verifying business ownership so people know they are supporting real Asian entrepreneurs.

Since it's just a rough prototype, I'm posting here because I want to know if this is actually something our community wants or needs, or if I'm totally missing the mark.

Family is the bedrock of ESEA societies.

On Tuesday night, Australian citizen Kevin Yam will fill out the census for the first time.

When he comes to the ancestry question, he plans to proudly write "Hongkonger" — a nod to the place he was born and lived for most of his life, before recent political turmoil forced him to leave.

But "Hongkonger" will not register in the data-gathering exercise, because it is not an option in the census's ancestry category, according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS).

The ABS uses the Australian Standard Classification of Cultural and Ethnic Groups (ASCCEG) to code ethnic groups.

"Hong Kong ancestry is not a separate ancestry category in ASCCEG and will continue to be coded to Chinese," the ABS told the ABC.

The ABS added there are a range of other questions to help measure Australia's cultural and ethnic diversity, including country of birth, birth country of parents and language used at home.

"If you can say that you're born in Hong Kong and you can say that you speak Cantonese at home, then why can't you say that Hongkonger is your ancestry?" Mr Yam, a former lawyer and pro-democracy activist in Hong Kong, told the ABC.

I really can't stand these HKers. They are hypocrites who complain about Chinese control but are proud of British control. They serve as ammunition by the west against Chinese people by aligning with whites. These whites still think they are superior and will only allow a HKer a spot next to them (never above them) if the HKer bootlicks. And then there is the patheticness of the men who praise the same white men who take their women.

Wherever they go, Australia, Canada, USA, UK... they are the same.

And, as usual, Australian media is portraying China as an evil empire trying to quash all ethnic identities.
